Iraqi Insurgents Slay Mosul Governor

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Insurgents killed the governor of the northern city of Mosul on Wednesday as his convoy was traveling to the capital, Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official said.

Attackers approached the convoy of Gov. Youssef Kashmola about 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Mosul, an Iraqi Interior Ministry official said while speaking on condition of anonymity.

It was not immediately clear how Kashmola was killed.

The official released no other information.
