View Full Version : Polish pilots in Pakistani Air Force, 1947

Interesting ... brave men ...


Some of the Polish pilots who served in RAF during WWII and later joined PAF after 1947 when RPAF hired meceneries and outwside help to keep PAF afloat. Some of them became Pakistani citizens and and lived in Pakistan.

These pilots didn't want to join POlish AF since POland had become communist country and they didn't want to go back.

One of them named Turowicz who became Air Cdr. became a citizen and lived in Pakistan until his death in 1984. He was our ACAM i.e., Chief of Maintenance.

The book "The Gold Bird" is an amazing book which talks about creation of RPAF and later PAF.

this guys are legend
Gladych was only Pole flying in USAF on thunderbolts he fought even in china aginst japs.

Witold Urbanowicz fight against Japans too(he shot down Zero above Hainan island)...

BTW the list of names you cite is, at least partialy, wrong. E.g.:

Miroslaw Feric
I remember that M. Feric died in an accident (during landing afair) 14/Feb/1942, don' t know if other names are correct.
