Rifles stolen from Army barracks
The weapons were stolen from the armoury
Investigations are taking place into the suspected theft of four rifles from an Army barracks.
The guns, which the Army confirmed as SA80 light support weapons, went missing from Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire on Monday 12 July.
Royal Military Police officers barred soldiers from leaving the base for 24 hours while a search took place.
The guns, which belonged to the 1st Battalion, the King's Regiment, have an effective range of 1km.
An Army spokeswoman said: "We can confirm the disappearance of four weapons from the armoury at the home of the 1st Battalion, the King's Regiment.
"It is being investigated by the Royal Military Police."
