BERLIN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said here on Monday that India was not sincere in resuming composite dialogue with Pakistan, adding that attempts by Pakistan to normalise relations between the two countries were being stalled. (diverting the heat from WOT towards india)
‘India is stalling the dialogue process and the European Union must play its role to bring it back to the negotiating table for resolving all outstanding issues, including the core issue of Kashmir, between the two countries,’ Prime Minister Gilani said during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, soon after arriving here on a two-day visit.
The prime minister said that improvement of ties between the two countries was crucial for stability in South Asia.
Gilani’s visit comes on the eve of the golden jubilee of economic relations between the two countries.
Pakistan and Germany are likely to sign a new bilateral investment treaty to enhance cooperation in defence, economy and education sectors.
Briefing the media after the meeting, a Foreign Ministry official said that Germany had agreed to provide an additional 45 million euros for development assistance in addition to the its annual funding of 80 million euros.
He said that details were being worked out and a major chunk of the German pledge would be in grant.
The prime minister, the official said, also called for completely lifting a ban on defence-related equipment which was partially lifted in 2004. The German minister promised that the issue would be reviewed soon.
Westerwelle, he said, praised Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in the war against terrorism and assured that Germany would continue to support Pakistan in its fight against militants.

He said the government had no information about presence of Al Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden, in Pakistan and the powers which were fighting the war on terror had not shared any intelligence in this regard. (yeah blame it on usa/uk)
Gilani also rejected British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s statement that top Al Qaeda leaders were in Pakistan and said there was no information about them, about their presence in Pakistan or somewhere else. (Sir, i dont control ISI)
He said: ‘On the one hand the world community, including Britain, praises Pakistan for its efforts in the war on terror and appreciates the military operation, but on the other they ask for more.’ Asking Pakistan to do more, he said, appeared to be an ‘out of context’ statement. (crying like a school boy)
He said that political situation in the country was quite stable and he had no differences with President Asif Ali Zardari. Democracy should be strengthened and attempts to derail the system should be foiled, he added.
Responding to a question, he said the government was trying to resolve the issue of Balochistan and allay people’s feeling of deprivation. ‘Balochistan is my top priority and I will bring this most neglected province into the mainstream,’ he said.
The prime minister said Pakistan had been facing frequent Mumbai-like incidents and, therefore, the only way forward was to improve ties with India by resuming the composite dialogue. (terror manufacturer now becomes a victim!)
He appreciated Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s desire to resolve core issues, including Kashmir, and said that Pakistan strongly believed that a friendly environment should prevail for the continuation of dialogue.
