Good afternoon everyone,
I've searched on this site but it claims my search words are too broad, and my google-fu is not doing much either ....must be that month I just spent in Ft. Polk for JRTC.
I recently inherited an M1 Garand from my grandfather who passed away 3 years ago. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I can obtain parts, manuals, etc. The sites I've seen have just been guys' fan sites rather than actual sites I can order stuff from. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
It does look pretty good in the gun safe right next to my M4 p-)

Here is an online version of the Army field manual for the Garand: http://www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/garand/intro.htm
As far as parts go what are you looking for? Websites like www.Cheaperthandirt.com and www.midwayusa.com usually have most of the standard parts for Garands.

http://www.sherluk.com/ is another good source for parts
as for the manual take a look here: http://www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm
look under "CMP M1 Garand" and "Springfield Armory M1 Garand"

You could try Hoosier Gunworks (http://www.hoosiergunworks.com/catalog.html) and Numrich Gun parts (http://www.e-gunparts.com/products_new.asp?CatID=4619). In the past I had success getting parts on Ebay as well, but I believe they have seriously restricted the types of parts you can sell there now.

It looks like I'm gonna need a new bolt and maybe a new trigger assembly, but I'm hoping to be able to see if I can forgo that

If not too personal who made it and what serial number range? Mines Springfield Armory 3142211 made in 1944 between July and Late August

Mine is not WWII manufactured, Springfield 5942967, which puts it 1956 timeframe.
Thanks for all the help. I know jack about the weapon so I have a lot of reading to do. My only saving grace is that we still used M14's (which the operation is the same as an M1) back at my military college from 2003-2007, so I know how to field strip it.
