Juliets suck. What's with the whacky colored sunglasses being worn into combat??? Stick to the typical M-Frame and Minutes.

Juliets suck.

Juliets rock. The best shades since Eyejackets, the only other ones I wear skiing (googles always for boarding) and they look great with Royal Robbins for that PMC look p-)

As far as I'm concerned, these are the best sunglasses on the planet. I got one pair in X metal/Black Iridium, then another identical set for clear shooting lenses. First pair have been worn since 99 and the second since 02. Both are still in great condition, and have never broken or failed me. Yes, they are expensive, but I sure get my money's worth.

As far as the question of what oakleys are worn in the movie Black Hawk Down, yes they are Oakley Juliets but they are a special version that were also worn by Cyclops in the first X men movie, they have "Ruby" lenses and (supposedly) it takes a special process to get that deep red color ( as opposed to the orang/yellow/red of the "fire" lenses) I happen to own a pair of the Ruby Juliets and yes they are great glasses. I brought them to Egypt with me this summer and they attract a little more attention than I'd perfer in a country like this but they are great back home. Only problem is their retail value. They've got a sticker price upwards of $400, of course u can go to ebay and work for something lower but i just wanted to clear that up.

And no one should be faulting Juliets unless they've of course tried them out themselfs. I'm a bit of an Oakley freak and as great as the glasses are I dont think they'd be my first pair to wear out in a combat opperation.

The Mission: The United States military teamed up with Oakley to provide a boot for the U.S. Elite Special Forces. The goal was unconditional performance. Oakley responded by producing a boot combining technical materials and leading edge design.

With unparalleled combat level performance, the Oakley Elite Special Forces Standard-Issue Assault Boot is perhaps the most technical boot ever to be produced

The vest and tape-covered helmet lead me to believe it's an old picture of USMC Force Recon (before they got the FSBE and MICH)
Edit: The caption of that photo from www.specwargear.com says

Assault Vest System (AVS). A system with a body armor and a modular vest + modular pouches. It was used by Marine special forces.

Pictures and info from USMC newsletter and manufacturer.

Sorry guys, but for me Oaks are NOT cool or stylish. Oakleys are typical american sunglasses. For military purposes they might be ok...don't worry if they broke, because they were not your favourite glasses
