Check the Marketplace section on FALfiles forum regularly. Perhaps one might show up for sale. But be warned: you'll have to act fast if one is offered, as parts and accessories are normally sold really fast there.
And be prepared to shell out some serious $$$.
By the way, my Brit L1A1 is built on a T48 receiver.

Is the t-48 the fal that was submitted to the US military, for the replacment for the m1?
It was, but said to have failed the arctic weather trials so the M14 was taken not only for being a US Design, but for the reliability of the M1 Garand in the frozen wastes of North Korea.
Regarding the T48, it had unique gripped handguards:

^ That's a good source for parts, James. I've bought quite a few of my FAL innards from them. Their prices are reasonable and they ship quickly. Another great source is gunpartsguy.com.
The T-48 butt stock you are looking for is known as a "type A" butt and they are very, very rare. The last original I saw for sale was about $500.00 and was only on sale for 10 minutes. You can have a reproduction stock made, but you will also need a type A lower, as the stock will not work with a standard lower. They are more common than the stocks, but are still in the $100-150 range and hard to find. I can't give you any reliable places to look for one.

They're averaging around $900-$1100 for rifles built with imported parts kits and US-made receivers nowadays. If you check the FALfiles or AR15.com websites, you can often find rifles for sale from forum members.

The only FALs really worth paying 2$k and up for are original Belgian FNs, Australian L1A1s, or original Israelis.
And that's no so much because they're better, but because they are more collectable.

The good thing is I got it off an armourer mate and he threw in some spare gas tubes etc, and alot of the older gen boys still have parts for them, so a slab of beers normally seems to be the currency of trade. Occaisonally I'll find the odd magazine or part when I'm "Visiting" the Q Store

I've been looking into building a FAL for a few months now. Mostly wanted to build it straight up wood. T48/Isreali type butt-stock, and woof furniture and the commonwealth type front sight hood aperture. But i dont know here to find said Buttstock.

I was looking at Ironwoods site but i don't believe they carry those butt-stocks.
can anyone point out the proper name of this buttstock and where i should go to build it?

Check out this site's "Marketplace" section, and eventually you'll find one for sale. The wood buttstocks were made by Fabrique Nationale in Belgium for West Germany's G1 FALs, and by Steyr in Austria for their Stg58s. Both fit metric pattern FAL receivers.

I suggest you take some time and check out that link I provided. The FAL Files can answer a lot of your questions.
About wood furniture being rare/crappy, they are definitely not "crappy", but are indeed harder to come by than plastic furniture, because the wood stocks and forearms are a lot older and they seem to be in higher demand.
I paid $25 for my wood stock, which I found at a gun show in Portland. I was a little lucky, but there isn't any reason why you can't encounter a deal that's just as good, with a little persistence and patience on your part.

or i just might settle building something like second on in this picture metric.
i don't like the Inch pattern pistol grip or butt stock. and i don't like the Metric pattern sights, its lower compared to the inch pattern.
i dig the metric pattern round knob charging handle and the top loading stripper clip loader. Inch patterns don't have this. the charging handle on the inch patterns are a paddle on a spring.

I definitely prefer the metric over the inch. The one advantage of the inch pattern FALs (L1A1) is that they accept both types of magazines, without needing to make modifications.
I'm not a huge fan of the FAL's rear sites either. DSA makes lowers with piccatini grooves as well as with M16A2 style sites.

Dont DSA's rifles take both types? ive seen then with 30rd's, which i thought were Inch pattern.
about the sights. is there any way to install Inch pattern sights on DSA t48 rifle?
if i could do that, i think id stop being so picky. id get one of there rifles.
i want all wood, long browning flash hider, round charging handle, Inch pattern type sights, stripper-clip top feed and if possible type A buttstock, the wood stock with out the furroe

I could be wrong, but I don't think DSA receivers accept both types of magazines. However, the inch magazines can fit into metric receiver wells, provided that the lip protrusion is filed off.
As far as sights go, I'd suggest you check DSA's site, and/or the FALFiles Forum.
