A group of United Nations agencies and other organizations has asked donors for $664 million to aid the Palestinians in 2010.
UN officials say the money is for 236 projects in the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in areas such as food and cash handouts, agriculture, education, health and sanitation.
On Wednesday, UN officials called on Israel to lift its blockade of Gaza, stop demolishing Palestinian homes in east Jerusalem and ease movement in the West Bank to alleviate what they called a "humanitarian crisis."
The groups so far have received 70% of the $804 million they requested for 2009. The United States is their largest funder, followed by the European Union and private donors.

The money would be better put to use, by burning it for heat this winter.
I cant think of a smaller group of people on this planet who have recieved so much money in the past 40 years....with absolutly nothing what so ever to show for it. Talk about welfare leeches, nobody trumps the Palis.

I don't believe much in this spending millions on other countries out of the blue. But If we are going to put 664 million dollars into the Levant only the state of Israel is a reliable and reasonable enough of a country to invest the money into. There is plenty of poverty in Israel to deal with and plenty of charity work to be done.
We on earth are we as the international community spending money on the infrastructure of some Arab entity which will be yet another third world place nothing more than an empty and useless well we will need to feed with money.
I don't believe we should give foreign aid to any country, but if we are going to, spend it on Israel not on a state or a bunch of clans trying to unite failed before they even started to be state.
Every dime we spend on the Levant area which doesn't safeguard the security of Israel will eventually end up in the hands of people who want to destroy my freedom as much as those who live in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv or Ariel for that matter.
I cannot see why it is in the EU's interest to help build some Arab entity whose political elite are criminals and terrorists at best.

Poverty is in every country, even mine but it would make little sense for the UN to fund efforts to end it when we are as rich as we are.

I'm sure their fellow Muslim will come through. Use them enough as an excuse to hate on Israel.

So-called "Pan Arabism" does not extend to actual acts or funding. It's just hot air in the desert.

The Saudis give cash away like its going out of style...
Unfortunately they also fail to check on what its being used for, a lot of the time.

The Saudis "PROMISE" to give aid.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudi_foreign_assistance
Between 1975 to 1987, Saudi developmental aid amounted to US$48 billion, second only to the United States of America. The ODA/GNP ratio averaged 4.2% over this period, well above the highest amount provided by Development Assistance Committee countries (the DAC average is 0.35%).[1] The figure has also made it one of the most generous donor nations on a per-capita basis.[2]

somebody asked me on the street if I was a supporter of helping the Gaza strip and I think Israel is oppressive.
I said, "well if me and my boyfriend went there on holiday we would probably be killed", that shut them up. (I'm not gay by the way, just making a point to them).
To hell with it, we all know a lot of it will "somehow" end up funding weapons to harm Israels. Also I am not going to pay money to keep the Hamass regime aloft. If they spent less money on trying to acquire stinger missiles and more on the basic yet desperate needs of their people then this call for cash would probably not be needed.
