Can anyone give me an ID of this vest. Vaguely similar to the Pattern 83 but many differences.

Appreciated.

The style of camo used on the inside of the vest is very similar to the style used briefly by 32 BN during 1986. What is weird is that the camo pattern is only used on a part of the liner.

32BN used a wide variety of gear during their early years, until they finally settled on a design. Some items were copied from the Recce's, and often parts of different local SADF and captured LBE were combined.

Some of the gear they used can be seen here. http://web.mac.com/roanminandi/websites_/32Bn_Webbing_%26_Equipment.html#7

Edit: This may be the SWA version Pat 83 Type 2 vest. See http://web.mac.com/roanminandi/websites_/32Bn_Webbing_%26_Equipment.html#2 Here you can see the camo peaking out under the shoulder straps: http://web.mac.com/roanminandi/websites_/32Bn_Webbing_%26_Equipment.html#3

Battle jacket in DPM camo, seen during Ops Modular/Hooper in 1987-88.

One Sixth Warriors has a slightly different cammo variant scroll down the page.

It is a South West African vest. This is not officially confirmed though. The reason for the camo inners are unknown but it is simmular to the recce camo used from time to time.

it looks like something that was identified as a SADF 32 Battalion vest in a copy of Combat and Survival a number of years ago.

Close, but the colour is different and the lower rear pouch is also different.

Had one of these in my collection. I've been told it was SAP issue but I have no sources to back it up I'm afraid

Thanks for the assistance guys. From the info provided i'm pretty sure it's a Pattern 83 type 2 vest.

It's in mint unused condition. Anyone have an idea what it's worth?

Around $60

I paid mine 50GBP a year ago and saw one ending for 100 not long ago (well these mostly sell on ebay.co.uk as far as I can tell)

If the 90s one is $200, then a rare experimental 83 version is going to be worth alot more.

Just got done watching District 9 and it looks like the MNU security guys were wearing something similiar to the vest pictured.

Just throwing it out there for visual references....
