Glock 18 is the one to have. Empties that 31 round clip in less than 2 second with hardly any muzzle rise. Hard to get though but perfect for special for SWAT teams.

Anyone know the reason for this sudden procurement of foreign weapons. Generally speaking, indigenous designs were the weapons of choice for the russian LE and Military.......

Wow. And why would it be perfect for cops, period. A handgun is a defensive weapon.

Not for police but for SWAT team or special forces who want to put alot of lead in a small area rather than a single precision shot, or so I have heard.
The draw back is that the clip is too long (it is a freaking magazine) and hard to carry that is why it comes with a shorter clip as well.

Isn't precision the point?

More importantly.... do you have any idea what the hell you are talking about?

Try holding a Glock 18 on automatic when that metal slide racks back on top of that polymer frame after every shot.

Lay off the video games and the crack, Azatavrear.

If there was a real advantage to being able to empty your handgun that quickly, you'd think more manufacturors would make full auto ones :)

I daresay if you just want to throw lead downrange, an SMG or a shotgun is somewhat more efficient.

Wow, hostility. I never claimed to be an expert, all I said is I like the Glock 18 and as I have heard it is being used only by Special US Forces and swat.

Take it easy will you, I am civilian and probably older than you. Feel free to correct me, I don’t mind, we all learn from each other. Damn

Adios

You can't get those that easy. I got a Springfield 40 that jams on me and a 44 mag that kicks like mule. I would have no use for such weapon anyway. I do indour target shooting and skid shooting with my shot gun, and I suck at it, that is it.

Sorry to interupt.

No its all cool and thanks for the tip, there is something about them S&W with me...................and yes, she sounds like quite a lady and very beautiful one at that, especially without all them fancy makeups.

Damn, Id love to take that out for a ride

Anyways I'm for whatever makes their forces more efficient no matter what country the firearms may come from. Though I do admit it would look funny to see a Russian carrying a MP5 with a glock

Western weapons are acquired for training and familiarization according to a Russian officer who was in a unit which received some.

These guns (MP5 in particular) are purchased with training rounds and used for practice by special police units.

Roster of OMSN weapons showed a surprising number of Western weapons. But this is rather misleading as they aren't necessarily purchased as combat weapons. The Glocks on the other hand are another story.

Also, I know a number of Western non-lethal launchers were purchased for trialing. I think some of the, were made by FN.

The quality of this pistols is not good they say. Unfortunatly today russian firearms production degrades. Pistols have a nice design and features but quality is bad. I have a friend who is a cop, he says they try to find old soviet Makarov pistols (before seventies) because quality was great, modern made pistols are crap

i doubt it extremly, all this pistols passed the military test, and all resumes that i could find were positively too, so why glocks and specialy why the 17 model is still a big question

Having worked with a G18 (and I'm suspecting neither of you have), I find it to be a PITA to use, despite its appearance in MW2. It has a ton of muzzle climb and as for running it one-handed, good luck. I only know of a couple of SWAT teams that use them and it is in a VERY limited role. Your mileage and experience may vary.

As for the G17, there is a reason Glock owns 70-75% of the US LE market. Apparently, Glock could do something for the Russian cops that domestic makers couldn't.

what US weapons market have to do with russian market... and i don't see any "BIG" advantages of this glock to new russian products... i think its more a political purchase with the new better relations between russia and usa

Laconian
12-17-2009, 06:25 PM
How is the Russian purchase of an Austrian-made firearm a relations ploy between the US and Russia? The Glock domination of the US LE market is an example of the suitablity of the weapons system for a large market. If the weapon was as crappy as some have alleged (yourself included) it wouldn't have as big a share of the market.

I have no idea why somebody thought it was better than the current issued Russian firearm, BUT THEY DID.

For one, for duty use 9mm pistol, Glock 17 is very hard to beat, and secondly, the Russian pistols, by design and manufacture and quality control arent very good, Norinco makes about same "caliber" products, like their SIG, CZ, 1911 copies whatever that are totally crap compared to the real things.

By the way, in Russia there is a difference between the military and police test for guns. Military is much better. Also in old good times weapon acceptance was more strict.

man, MP446 is a sporting pistol, you won't find it outside of IPSC ranges. and 443 is for Army only.

though i've seen LE folks with "Skyphs" some time ago.
