Lord Monckton is an a-hole...

Lord Monckton tells Jewish climate change protester he is like 'Hitler Youth' (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6954160.ece)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne-X_vFWMlw... a drama queen

He added that he was considering reporting the protestors to the police for “pushing and jostling” him during the meeting. ... not to mention some of his opinions are borderline fascist :

Views on AIDS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Monckton,_3rd_Viscount_Monckton_of_Brenchley#Views_on_AIDS)

Monckton's views on how the AIDS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDS) epidemic should be tackled have been the subject of some controversy. In an article for The American Spectator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Spectator) entitled "AIDS: A British View",[43] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Monckton,_3rd_Viscount_Monckton_of_Brenchley#cite_note-42) written for the January 1987 issue of The American Spectator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Spectator), he argued that "there is only one way to stop AIDS. That is to screen the entire population regularly and to quarantine all carriers of the disease for life. Every member of the population should be blood-tested every month ... all those found to be infected with the virus, even if only as carriers, should be isolated compulsorily, immediately, and permanently."Article here (http://www.docstoc.com/docs/19396023/monckton-aids) (the scan is quite bad but still readable)

You're free to hate those goddamned eco-nazi-commies or to negate climate change but having this kind of dumb cvnt as a spokeperson (for lack of a better word) doesn't help you being credible.

Just as I said, Viagra attack. Are they paying well?

The most disgusting report. Also, yet again a very untrue and misleading title, no climatologist features in this movie. 'Respectfully' I'd change to 'despicably'. Mean, amoral and revolting.

A hard thing to say, but not often I have seen any politician lie this much within a few minutes and humiliate a polite person in public, who has not done them anything.

Must be said, she is doing well, for not being a scientist and faced with such aggression and comes out victorious with: 'What was your name again?' 'I'm gonna check for myself.'

Lord Monckton is an a-hole...

Couldn't have put it better, even though till this video was posted, I did not know he existed.

Scientists today (Dec11) attacked the EU climate pledge (ref 1) as a ‘road to ruin based on failed science and fraudulent data (ref 3)’ and issued direct challenges to the Met Office and Gordon Brown to rely on evidence based science and policy not on a new green quasi-religion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu_ok37HDuE

Those idiot kids had just interrupted his lecture.

I don't know about the AIDS thing, but wiki attributes all kinds of unsourced quotes to Rush, so who knows.

Hold on..came out victorious? By advocating Greenpeace over scientific studies..? Explain.

Those idiot kids had just interrupted his lecture.

And it was wrong but doesn't justify them to be compared with Hitlerjugend, which just prove you're either retarded or totally ignorant of History.

That's why I checked and posted a direct link to Monckton's article.

X2. Compare this video to the one of him "getting pwned". I'm surprised it wasn't a "kick me" sticker they put on his back.
These two videos reflect the debate in a microcosm. One side argues with facts and reason, and the other is rude, petty and childlike.

what an idiot. he's trying to shift the debate away from co2.
And this is exactly what should happen.
Btw I am not one of those global warming conspiracy guys. But the debate over CO2 is way over charged and has become increasingly irrational by both sides.
While at the same time there are much more pressing problems, like depletion of natural resources and overpopulation.

Is there some sort of quota for Monktons in every hot topic conspiracy nuts delight story in the world?

Between him taking up ecology and his sister Rosa monopolising the Death of Princess Di you can't get away from them

While he is a skilled speaker, I'm far from convinced for several reasons.

First this alleged USAMRIID recommandation which I can't find any trace of (if someone find anything, please post it). Oh, my bad, it was held privately . Quite convenient.

According to Monckton, this recomandation was rejected due to "pressures from various factions of the Left. Then again, this claim is uncorroborated.
Him equating this alleged rejection with murder is nothing more than a shameless political recuperation of a dramatic epidemy to suit his political bias against the Left.

"Permanent isolation" and other kind of similar reactions were held at the beginning, at a time AIDS was a mysterious disease whose means of transmission weren't accurately known and thus met with fear. You can't deal with AIDS like you would with leper or spanish flu and I find his comparison with other infectious disease inaccurate at best.
Not a sane background for serious scientific research and debate. The same hystery we're experiencing now with climate change and which is detrimental to both sides.

I won't comment on his use of pathos to convince his audience as I've always found it to be the weakest form of argumentation.

Finally, and not really related to the topic at hand, I have a problem with people who (deliberately, because he's more intelligent than that) confuse secularity with atheism and who seems to think Humanism is some atrocious ideology.

I would leave the European Union, close down 90 per cent of government services and shift power away from the atheistic, humanistic government and into the hands of families and individuals. (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/the-5minute-interview-christopher-monckton-policy-adviser-journalist-inventor-462818.html)
But the biggest problem with Monckton is actually the fact he's irrelevant. He studied journalism and later pursued a political career, which means he's about as needed in a medical or environmental debate as Lilly Allen.

And this is exactly what should happen.

This. Climate change is a problem but only a part of far broader environmental problems (taken in his broader meaning), which of course comprises depletion of natural ressources and overpopultation.

I'm also the first to be angered by recuperation of this problem by various elites for personnal gain, regardless of which they chose. I don't have much more respect for people like Al Gore than I have for Monckton and his acolytes and I didn't need them to make my opinion.

I also have to expresss my disbelief on how environmental concern is met in certain parts of the world (particularly the USA). Those kind of issues affect everyone regardless of your political affiliations. I guess that's why climate change and other "green" topics are not really viewed trough partisan pov here anymore (even if differences subsist).

Disrupting an event and preventing someone to speak is now comparable to hitler youth activism?

That's insane.

This lord guy is clearly a fraud. Or an emotional drama queen as was stated.

For a start, in this adventure, in which he routinely wore a bowler hat, Monckton won the Falklands conflict from his armchair after suggesting, he claims, to the Prime Minister that the best way to undermine the Argies was to have the SAS introduce a mild bacillus into the water supply in Port Stanley. 'I can tell you from experience there is nothing more demoralising than having the trots in a trench!' He believes, laughing a little wildly, she took him up on this idea and the rest is history.
