As those are mostly not political or military related I've posted them here in Off Topic.
Hope You'll enjoy this very particular but still American perspective.

An old Indian chief sat in his hut on the reservation, smoking a ceremonial pipe and eyeing two government officials sent to interview him.
"Chief Two Eagles," asked one official, "You have observed white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."
The chief nodded in agreement.
The official continued, "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"
The chief stared at the government officials for over a minute and then calmly replied, "When white man come to this land, Indians were running it. No taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, women did all the work, medicine man free, Indian man spent all day hunting and fishing, all night having ***."
Then the chief leaned back and smiled, "Only white man dumb enough to think he could
improve system like that."

1. Smack who?
2. 'Indians' is a perfectly acceptable name, and it's not derogatory at all.
3. Annoying to who?

It'snot precise Indians are from India, we're net in India. Amerindian is the correct term to describe the First Nations here in North America.

But isn't Indian or anything related (ie Amerindian) wrong in the first place? Native Americans have asian roots, but not from India, most likely from Siberia. The appellation Indian is purely based on a mistake made by the first European colonists. There's nothing Indian about the natives.
Ideally, we should call them by their repsective tribal names, but there's a lot.
Regardless of where they live, be it USA, Canada, Mexico, Brasil or else, we should call them Americans. It's a tad confusing, but it's more fitting, IMHO.

All technicality aside, I believe 'Indian' is actually based on 'Indigenous', which is correct from the perspective of the European settlers.
Now, can we put all this political correctness behind us and start telling ethnic jokes again? :D

"Indian" was coined because the people who first arrived thought they had landed in the West Indies. Technically nowadays, the term is not politically-correct, but I don't know if it's really considered offensive. I still use "Native American" whenever possible though.

But what I don't get is that the artist refers numerous times to Indians? What gives, isn't he "Native American"? Of course science would argue that "Native Americans" are not native to America but hey call yourselves what you'd like. Just don't expect the rest of us to be so quick.
Blah, blah, blah... Check the source of the cartoons... it's called "Indian Country" www.indiancountry.com

If the Native Americans or Ameriindians do call themselves Indians... what's the fuss then? Isn't that a bit too much of Political Correctness?
