I thought I try out some reproduction stripper clips for my 1891/30 MN. A package of 5 only 1 is usable. The other four are far to tight on the bullets and makes loading the bullets into the clips impossible. The clips are tempered very well...any bending or trying to loosen with pliers (or flattened out by a table corner) does nothing. Any tips on how I can save these clips? In the mean time ill be loadin' them one at a time woot

I've never been able to get those clips to work. These, however, function flawlessly:

I have used Hungarian, russian and Finnish ones in the past. The ones in the link are brass. As far as I know the chinese are the only ones who made brass ones. I've never tried my brass clips. Anyways, hope it works out for you.

15thMEU thank you! p-)
But would any of you have any tips on how to sort of "de-temper" the steel to loosen up the metal? Heh I still want to save the clips I already have....or at least try
edit: just ordered five of those

Best bet would probably be to heat up the steal a bit over the fire, not glowing red of course but the heat would make it more malleable. (always wanted to use that word)

Heh ill try that Black...thought about doing that and read up on a patent for de-tempering steel...just heat it up then slowly then cool in boiling water
and those brass clips arrived...everyone of them worked flawless, didnt even have to pinch the top round and push like the other ones
