Look at Kennedy's beliefs on special ops and his creation of them. That will probably give you the best insight into why they exist.


Why they still exist? Basically it's that whenever there's a war, everybody wants to come, so every branch wants to have every capability.

Marcinko was the founding father of SEAL Team Six. Also there is "Memoirs of a Navy SEAL" by Bob Gormley who was the commander of ST6 (Devgru) after Marcinko.[/b]
