I was flipping through a special issue of Guns Magazine the other day: The Book of the AR-15, and happened upon an ad for several of Troy Industries' products. There was a photo of the CQB-SPCA4, nicknamed "The Advisor" in the ad, and I just thought it was cool. Here's a pic.

BTW, how do you post pics? I keep forgetting.

Well first make realize that posting from another website means that guy is paying for your post, plus their might be copyright issues. That being said right click the photo, properties, copy the address(make sure its the whole address you might have to drag down as well), go back to Milphotos, and click img, paste, click img.

I wonder how quiet the A5 is compared to an M4 equipped with a KAC or Surefire suppressor. For those who don't have the magazine, the CQB-SPCA5 is internally suppressed, like the MP5SD. Yet, unlike the MP5, 5.56 ammo is well above supersonic speeds. Whereas 9mm parabellum is just below the sound barrier.

Actually, if the speed of sound is roughly around 1,130 ft/s, then most 9x19mm FMJ and JHP loads are just above the sound barrier, most being around 1,190-1,200 ft/s. Integral suppression for AR-15/M16 pattern guns in 5.56x45mm has also been tried before, with mixed results.

I guess that sounds about right. 1.456 fps = 1 mph. 1,130 fps is roughly 775 mph, and with the sound barrier being apx. 730 mph at sea level, the 9mm round is super sonic.

I think .45 ACP is the only commonly used cartridge that's sub-sonic at muzzle.

the integral suppression of the mp5sd has a device to drop the load to sub sonic speeds, thats why they dont recomend special subsonic loads, becuase the sd does not need them.

but the quietest 5.56 was made by, if i remeber correctly, saber. its an ar15 type and they also make m2 berrals for the government if im not mistaken.
