The german news magazine DER SPIEGÈL issued a report on their homepage that the Commanche project was canceled due to the fact that too many hellicopters were shot down during OIF,,,well personnaly I think that makes no sense to me. There weren t many helicopters shot down during OIf and why would this affect a whole project? What are your opinions
here is the source , I hope you can undersstand a bit of german

It was canceled because someone realized we didn't need stealth to fight terrorists. I think we should have kept the program alive just as a testbed for research and development of furture technologies. we're not always going to be fighting terrorists and insurgents. One day we might have to actually fight a real army. It's gonna be tough with just a bunch of Strykers (exaggeration but you get the point :P).

I think it should not have been stopped so France could have sold 650 20mm cannons to the US Army....the Comanche was supposed to be armed with a GIAT 20 mm cannon....

I thought this was old news? Comanche dropped due to budget concerns. Read between the lines.

Yes but in the US, budget concerns are only concers when you can't see an immediately apparent application for the equipment. Take a look at the huge phased array radar that's being mounted on an oil platform and is to be stationed in the Pacific Ocean for NMD. That project is still getting its money.
btw that huge radar looks badass :)
