That has to to incoming fire! or an IED going off ,or out of shot on the other side is a CET destroying one of many of the monuments to Saddam(one of the Wall Murals!)
No way would the British Army have a challenger tank sitting almost pn top of a controlled explosion! The way the wall is being blown towards the vehicle, which is also battened down.
A pretty amazing shot regardless of the situation though

yes thats a machine gun next to the 120mm

as for the weight....well, I know an M1A1 Abrams weighs in at 67-68 tons. My guess is that the Challenger might be a bit lighter, but not by much.

Strictly spaeking, no it's not, it's a 7.62mm Hughes Chain Gun

Argyll, to be even more pedantic, if it's the same scene the CET was a CRAAV...

Thats's it Royal, the CET is the wee squat vehicle, and the CRAAV is the Recovery vehicle based on the Challengers chassis!
I couldn't remember the acronym!
So have you a update on that photo,as to what the scene is portraying?
It's still a remarkable shot all the same!

I hope the photographer took that through a VERY long zoom lens. Otherwise he is in for a world of hurt. At least a concussion. Ouch. But an awsome pic.
