Well, i suppose i could buy a dvd player and then speakers. But i think it would be better to get them together to make sure everthing is compatible.

Go to cellar find 2 old hi-fi stereo amplituners/amplfiers of your parents with columns, change bass speakers, because they are probably teared or ate by moles... connect them to the your new 200$ dvd and have plesure for like you would payed at 500$ or more depending on what you found in cellar :)

you will not get surround sound if you do this ,because dvd is outputting stereo signal thru its rca analoge jacks, in order to enjoy full 5.1 sound you must buy dvd player with dedicated dolby digital decoder and 5.1 analog output

My DVD has full set of analog outputs.. Just saying :) ... but waiting for yamaha amplituner, and some money to buy projector(expensive biatches) and I'll have fully qualified cinema at home .... I have plenty of quality loud speakers at home, some need refurbishment because of tear and wear, but I'm good thought...

Huh? You guys are that close to Asia and cannot buy TV's for under $200 dollars? How much does a small 16inch color tv cost over there?

To be honest your better off buying a pair of decent stand alone speakers, a sub off ebay and an amp. This will give you far better sound than any cheapy home cinema kit and you should be able to get it for a similar price.
Those home cinema kits with the little speakers, those little speakers are basically pc speakers eg they're wank.

Good speakers...either Logitech Z680 500W RMS or some Klipsch, but the Klipsch are big money.
Good TV's, Samsung or Sony, make sure you get a TV with component and HDTV compatible. Widescreen would be the best choice.
I don't know how much $200 will get you over there, but the stuff I just said would probably be pretty pricey.
