Found this a couple of days ago and thought I'd share:

It's in German only but the images are self explanatory I think.

Personally I have a D Cell Mag Lite with an LED "unit" (whatever the correct term is) and my cousin has a Petzl LED and Led Lenser headlamp, so I was able to compare it live.

You just have a clear cut bluish, perfectly round white spot with a little halo around (depending on how you set the plastic lens-block). If anything, the center is slightly brighter than the outer, which is exactly the opposite to a maglite.

The difference is honestly staggering.

No difference than any high quality LED light. I'm just wondering what that thing was at 2:26.

I've got an Led Lenser, used to carry it in my past life as an armed security officer, great little light, used to light up dark alleys and banks no problem. The bluish light they put out has a real 'dazzle' effect if you flash someone, its also short and handy enough with the thumb control to use easily and smoothy with a handgun. That and its also very solid, I found it as good a good cheap option compared to a Surefire.

Personally I'm a fan of chinese made LED flashlights that are the fraction of the cost of Surefires and the like and are just as good. I've got a little LED light that's about 5" or so and throws like crazy and is extremely bright, has a much more focused beam than my LED maglight. Battery life is the only issue, and it gets hot. But it was $14.

Going to get myself Fenix TK-10 soon, seem to be great lights.

I rate the Ledlenser P7. I use it for work and it lasts a long time and has great output.
