OK, here you go with a couple of pix for starters.

Officially it is called the SA80A2UGL. Basically it is the SA80A2 fitted with the Heckler & Koch AG-36 40mm Grenade launcher. As you will see from the pix, this has almost resulted in a hybrid SA80A2/G-36 weapon, as the flash-hider and forend of the H&K G-36 have been used. The conversion was done by Heckler & Koch as were the basic "A2" SA80 conversions.

The scale of issue would appear to be 1 or 2 per section. It will soon become standard with all British.

Hope this is of help.

That's it....I'm joining up again...............what's the maximum age?

Met an RAMC surgeon (reservist) who'd been called up who was 62 last year...

You fit that age group?

Cool. Do surgeons get grenade launchers?

the latest way to wind newbies up is to get them to try and get bayonet clips for the Grenade launcher.
My friend who were called up for Kuwait had regulars who came out as reinforcements trying to borrow some off the yanks
Its amazing what you can get away when people are not familiar with kit.
Years ago when my TA unit were Changing over to SA80 My brother Brought an Airsoft Kit of an SA80 after 6 hours of hard work his section had it put together and then deicided to have some fun

Hey Argyll

l think all 16th AB were wearing that helmet with that cammo cover.
If you check out the MODs Op Telic site. You`ll see most if not all 16th are wearing that cover type.

Suppose it`s there way of making them stick out to the RMs & general Inf Divs/Regts.

As for the SA80A2-AG36 UGL combo. Well glad they let HK play with the SA80 now. Though l still think the G36/G36-AG36 combo, are better weapons for our lads.

Oh to the MOD letter l got off them about the SA80-UGL,it`s issued on a 1 in 4 basis. So if your rejoining Steve Andrews, make sure the NCOs love you ;) :D

If the 3 Para is part of the 16 Air Assault Brigade, the 3 Commando would be Royal Marines? Army vs. Navy...

3 Para is the Third Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (at the moment part of 16 Air Assault Brigade)

3 Commando Brigade consists of the 3 Royal Marine Commando's (40, 42 & 45), along with a raft of support elements - it's really an administrative structure covering all Commando units, although the HQ and other elements have a war fighting role.
