I'm looking for a 3-rail TRI-AD I mount, but I can't seem to find one anywhere.
The Colt Canada website doesn't have any ordering information and I can't find any aftermarket retailers that sell it. Anyone know where I can score one?

It's a piece of junk. Why do you want it?

You've used one before?
I realize a quad rail handguard is better, I have one on another rifle;)
I want this particular rifle to look like a C8A2.

It's for an actual AR. I found a couple of manufactures that make 'em for Airsoft, but I'm not sure how they'd work on an actual rifle. I'd rather find a mount that's designed for an actual firearm . Can they be purchased from Colt Canada?

Yeah, I know:roll:

Ok, so what's everyone's gripe with 'em
Please be specific.

Quad rail handguards ain't exactly cheap and I ain't rich. I've already sunk A LOT of cash into my other AR. I was hoping to save a little money and buy a TRI-AD I mount as a cheaper alternative.

It's a brand spankin' new Armalite M15A4 carbine that I just bought last week.
I don't have any pics yet, but here's one from the manufacturer's web site.

I really can't afford to spend 300 smackers on another quad rail handguard. I'd kinda like to try to save a few bucks;)
Have you used a TRI-AD I mount before?
Why does it suck so bad?

The precision guys will tell you that it sucks because it clamps around the barrel, and messes with its harmonics, thus, degrading accuracy. I'm of the opinion that 99% of users (myself included) can't shoot to the level required that would make that apparent.
It sucks for the average trigger puller because it places a lot of weight, with a Tac light and PEQ2/PAQ4 fitted, a long way forward of the support hand, which severely degrades the ergonomics of the rifle and therefore, the effectiveness of the shooter.
On a durability note, that weight can actually pull the barrel 'down' over time, and apparently rifles and carbines with the TRIAD mount fitted have a much higher predisposition to shearing bolt lugs, due to the slight change in chamber spec.
Save your cash, then buy a Troy or KAC.
Buy once, cry once.
