Today I was watching an Finnish MP act at Santahamina's MOUT training "track".
The act was about hijacked soldier and bunch of MP's saving him. I didn't have enough space on my memory card so that's why only 13 pics.

Hostage rescue with APILAS ATK rocket (112mm....), that should do the trick !

That guy standing in front of the window would get his head blown off in a second :bash:

Don't exactly know why they were carrying that with them. Maybe because MP's at Helsinki are also trained to fight in the city. The scenario was taking place under "full war" situation, so I think that's why.

Maybe he's not standing!
He's moving to the right side of that window, aiming he's weapon inside. Check out the next picture.

Yeah, I've been on a few of these shows in Santahamina, and I would like to point out that these shows are (usually) made for maximum show-off to the crowd, and no conclusions should be made about tactics, gear etc...

Regards

EDIT:

Forgot to mention, that if this is the same scenario I've seen a dozen times (and it probably is...): MP's know the location of the hostage and the hostiles in the building, and attack simultaneously from 3 different places. The APILAS is (supposedly) used to blow a hole in the wall :cantbeli:

Personally, I find it kind of disturbing that our military units are practising for hostage rescue. Is there some reason to expect that in the future the military will be asked to back the police up?

Actually, if I remember correctly, they're NOT rescuing a hostage, but an officer captured by the enemy.

Simply put: NO!

Ok. Glad to hear that.

I've been often wondering where the line is actually drawn. I think the police can borrow armored personnel carriers for the Karhu CT-team, for instance (that's OK in my books).

This "show-off exercise" seemed interesting to me at least. Sure would have been interesting to see as well , it's just too bad that I'm in Sweden at the moment..
