I realise this is the individual doing this and not the BNP as such but for all the claims by the BNP that they are a respectable party, they do have some real nutter's (well at least this one anyway!) in their ranks! You could ask, seeing that this one has been uncovered, what are the BNP doing to stop people like this joining them?

Photograph: West Yorkshire police/PA A BNP (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/bnp) member who spent a decade building up a cache of weapons in a bedroom hideaway was jailed for 11 years today.
Bus driver Terrance Gavan manufactured highly dangerous firearms and explosives at the home where he lived with his mother in Batley, West Yorkshire.
Police discovered 54 improvised bombs including nail bombs and a ****y-trapped cigarette packet, as well as 12 firearms.
The former soldier told detectives that he had "a fascination with things that go bang", the Old Bailey heard.
But Gavan also had a "strong hostility" towards immigrants, the court heard, and planned to target an address he had seen on a television programme that he believed was linked to the 7 July bomb attacks in London.
He told police he was a BNP member and letters to him from the party, as well as a copy of its magazine Hope and Glory, were found at his home.
The court heard that handwritten notebooks were found. One note said: "The patriot must always be ready to defend his country against enemies and their governments."
Gavan pleaded guilty to 22 counts including collecting information useful for terrorism and possessing explosives and firearms.

Sadly I believe we'll see lots of this. Western governments have created a massive domestic problem and if I could name one thing I think this brand new decade will be about I would say conflicts in regards to that.

Domestic retards are always going to be ongoing issue no matter what the social or political circumstances are.

Not exactly a drawer full of weapons, rather a lower without buffer tube, stripped upper, along with bolt and handguards and a flashlight and lets not forget a stick mag of sorts.

Not saying this guy isn't a nut, but it would be nice if they could show the weapons, rather than pieces belonging to one firearm.

And the 60s and 70s weren't bad?

I've known skinheads on both sides and they are both equally scary.....

no doubt lots of air guns and blank firers that may or may not be capable of being converted to fire live rounds. but 54 IEDS
and even half hearted recce pans for using them and your going down to jail for a long long time

Not that I'm defending the BNP but I have to wonder if he had been a member of a mainstream party and a wingnut, or a member of no party, if it would have attracted the media attention, somehow I doubt it.

AlfaGiven that none of the other parties on the ballot harbour malignant and racist ideals I would say that it would be unlikely that their political affiliation would be brought to light unless they were party functionaries or a significant donor.

to be fair it would have. although armed nutters tend not to be interested in mainstream parties.
as much as people would like it Sarah palin and Obama really don't do it for the black bdu Sks with a 30 round mag on and and a hatred of the fed crowd:)

yes some loon spuds turned up at the tea parties with guns but while a little odd. They had'nt really got into the swing of things paramilitary clothing is obligatory see how to dress like a character from modern warfare 2 or blood diamond pants threads for clues:)
obviously being unwelcome in crowds see Taxi driver or shallow grave on how to behave.:)

@Cali Joe - theres a good chance you're right. The Brit police manage to release some pretty unconvincing photos at times and there attitudesto what constitutes a real danger can have the rest of us rolling eyes. Replica weapons made from metal they make dinky toys with were regarded as "dangerous" and "capable of being converted to fire real rounds" . Anyone with any idea of metallurgy would have known the firer would the person most at risk by a considerable margin !. However, as the majority of society are not familiar with firearms period, they will take what the cops say at face value.
That said, he made nail bombs etc and is nasty racist little sh*t who needs to go down for a long time. What I do find ironic is that paramilitaries guilty of the same thing wont serve as long as he will.

nasty racist sh*t and dangerous no skill needed to make a bomb
The firearms may or maynot be dangerous but he wasn't amassing them to go airsofting even I could knock up a functioning sten gun just because its ugly badly made and angerous to the user does'nt mean it can't kill :(

Nail bombs, now that cannot be good. Hardly the thing that can be construed for anything related to self-defense.

they weren't

That's this part that made me think of that :
