I love how the comeback is perfectly timed with Bushmaster giving the Masada the final ass rape and condemning it to mall ninja oblivion.

I guess plenty of penny jars labelled 'ACR' will go towards buying a lovely new more available Colt AR.

Pricing sounds like they're just matching FN's SCAR pricing. Sure, they're both ridiculous, but now they're ridiculous together!

As for the new Colt, I'm guessing it's the SCW?

Bushmaster's making the ACR for civvies while Remington's making the ACR for military/LE.

Yes, the ACR is what was once called the Masada. I think Magpul couldn't handle mass production, so they licensed the original design to Bushmaster and Remington, who refined it and are producing it (I bet all the rifles will be produced in one place, but the civvie versions will have Bushmaster markings while the Gov't versions have Remington markings).

I think it appears remarkably similar to whatever the new baby poop brown FN rifle is called.

Bottom line is most people are telling Remington/Bushmaster to shove it due to the price point of the ACR. They kind of fell on their sword on this one.

I was able to meet up with SMGLee at the Colt booth. He's a great guy and very knowledgeable. He showed off the upcoming commercial/civilian Colt offerings, both of which offer new options including free floating rail systems, both built in and ones available for clamping on over the fore area. It's good to see the high level of QA afforded to their military weapons, now available for civilian customers. It should raise the bar for their competitors. One of the friends I was at the show with challenged herself with getting every piece of "swag" available. I also realized that very late in the day, everyone was taking pics with their phone's, so I took a few. I'll probably grab more tomorrow. Attached are the few.

I also messed around with the ACR at the Bushmaster/Remington/Magpul booths. They had them in standard/enhance, and in black/coyote tan/some kind of green camo. I was very impressed with it all around. Unlike the SCAR, all of the controls are ambidextrous, not just some of them. The SCAR still has the old style paddle bolt release, the ACR has the ambi release buttons in front of the trigger. All around, I'm very impressed. Can't wait to get one. The only thing that was a bit odd, was the fire selector switch. It was kind of wobbly and made of cheap plastic. A big difference from everything else on the gun. I pointed this out to the Bushmaster guy and he looked at me like I had 3 heads and just implied improper ****** relations with his mother. After much hemming and hawing, he said there would probably be aftermarket stuff to tighten it up. I mentioned it again at the Magpul booth, and he extolled the virtues of why having a wobbly switch is a good thing. Meh. On the AR15 platform is a strong piece of metal. Seeing that I use the safety toggle constantly when shooting, I'm curious to see if this ends up with an RMA at some point.

This is exactly why Bushmaster CS sucks.

I would say you had a valid point as a gun owner, and if I was the Bushy guy I would in no way suggest after market products to fix a possible problem on a $3,000 firearm.

yeah, pretty much. Then again, I also went over to the Kimber booth and told him that every forum I visit says that Kimber 1911's are great unless you get a bad one, and that their customer service is awful. I'm surprised he didn't kick me in the berries. I'm glad I got a Kimber pin before I said anything. :)

Indeed. That said, I've dealt with Bushmaster warranty work recently and I had it back and fixed very quickly. Even given the selector switch, I can buy with confidence knowing that should there actually be a problem, I won't be left hanging.

There were only a few, which was actually a good thing. I had a lot of questions for the booth people, and the women may not have looked all that great, but they really knew their stuff. The woman at the Springfield Armory area showed off a new M1A rear scope mount which looks far more solid than previous mounts from them. Should hold a zero now.

So far, my Kimber has been okay, but I do intend to replace the plastic mainspring housing and trigger with decent Ed Brown or Wilson parts, as soon as I can afford to do so.

My customer service experience with Bushmaster has been great. They've earned my repeat business.

I had an issue years ago with the non-F marked FSB on flattops. So I had to purchase the taller pin so with my ARMS 40L I would actually be able to get on target. Well, Bushmaster took forever and a day to mail out a few pins, and to me this is just silly for such a small part.

The best CS I have ever experienced is through SIG, and I may have to look at getting a 556 Classic instead of the ACR.

Ok, another set of pictures. The Remington ACR display, a sniper system other than the new M24, I didn't get a good look at what the plaque said, might be in one of the pictures, and then the new M24 versions. Also, got pics of the new Umarex officially licensed MP5 clone, and the GSG 522, the successor to the GSG5 with various things changed on it. The pics are kind of jumbled because I have a lousy netbook on me instead of my regular one with good photo software. Concerning the ACR, I was wrong, you can indeed put small rail inserts on that thing, so you can have as little or as much rail available as you want.

I think I saw that, but that booth didn't seem all that friendly to photos, so I just took the pair. I had the impression from the site and photos that it would be of higher quality and stronger construction, but handling it, it was basically the same as the GSG5. Maybe one or 2 small parts were metal now, or of a harder plastic, but I don't see the official license getting you much over the GSG old model. The new model GSG 522 however, looks fine, but it's now heavily modified, so if you really wanted the MP5 look/feel it's not going to satisfy you and Umarex is the only option.

This awesome party had two live bands including the world famous mini KISS, great food, free drinks, and beautiful women. This is by far the best SHOT parties I have ever attended in my 6 years experiences. So my 2010 SHOT shot pictorial tour starts with the some eye candies..... Enjoy

As the flyer described, Colt Defense is bring forward a new line of Tactical rifles that is ready to go right out of the box. no longer will you buy a 6920 and toss away the hand guard, stock and the carry handle, you can buy a free float rial equipped 6920 right out the box ready for an optic. and best of all, all the after market parts are all tested to the same rigorous standard that Colt test the military M4s.

This year's SHOT finally came to an end, and I have well over 1500 pictures to process. the four days I stayed at Vegas, I? enjoyed every minute of it and I was tired every minute of that. I was just running around like a mad man between photo shoots and meetings.

SHOT at Sands convention was not a very well thought out show, the layout of the convention center could have been better, the LE/Mil section were spread out over four separate areas. and the row numbers were confusing, that made my life harder, I don;t think I knew the layout at the end of the four days. I am still dazed and confused...LOL

Driving out of Vegas on Friday evening, snow hit us as we passed Primm back into California all the way into Baker.

I found this product the coolest with the most potential at SHOT....The Leupold CQT-SS 1-8X scope.

http://photos.imageevent.com/smglee/ss10/huge/P1030532.jpg
The entire rear housing is the turret that turns to change magnification from 1x all the way to 8x
some more refinement still required, and being a second focal plane, the illumination actually grow witht he magnification and in 8x setting the dot covers center of the reticle about 1/4 of the glass. would be nice to have a front focal plane scope.

Plus if you have to be absolutely still when viewing the optic, if you turn your head slightly, the red dot will disappear. this is an issue that the Engineer at Leupold is working on.

http://photos.imageevent.com/smglee/ss10/huge/P1030533.jpg

http://photos.imageevent.com/smglee/ss10/huge/P1030534.jpg
Illumination can be turn off by setting between each level of the illumination setting, much like the ShortDot.

^ That rifle is sick! I read an article about it and its suite of electronics that comes with the package; pretty incredible.

http://www.tactical-life.com/online/special-weapons/asymmetric-warrior-338-lapua-mag/

With the butt of the Ashbury International Group’s Asymmetric Warrior ASW338 locked firmly in my shoulder, I announced “on target” to my spotter. With a press of the button on the rangefinder’s data cable, the computer got the target’s range, angle, azimuth and computed the firing solution. “One thousand four hundred and sixty meters, 14.1 mils up, 0.4 left, stand-by for wind.” I dialed in the corrections and settled back on target. “Wind, 1.7 left.” I shifted my feet and hips a fraction to get the 1.5 mil hash mark just off the left edge of the target.

I completed my exhalation, pressed the trigger, and announced the break, “1.7 left, center.” The muzzle blast was muted by the suppressor, and the recoil dampened so well I easily remained on the target and saw the impact along with my spotter. “Hit, 7 o’clock, a few inches out of center.” I complimented my spotter on the wind call and paused to admire a system that could deliver a first-round hit on a man-size silhouette at 9/10th of a mile.
The ASW338 is a new military-grade sniper weapon system in .338 Lapua Mag. I need to stress the word “system,” since the rifle itself is only one of the components. The complete system includes day/night optics, rangefinders, computers, software and much more.
Ashbury International Group is not well known outside military procurement circles. They are not a gun company and are better described as a value-added equipment source. The company has over 20 years of experience in systems integration and training for military units. AIG is currently a prime contractor for the Marines, Army, SOCOM and DHS, delivering a variety of electro-optical devices and sniper-support equipment. The ASW338 system is a collaborative effort designed to give the sniper dramatically increased capabilities, in a package nearly identical in size and weight to the existing M40A3/M24 rifle series.

There were rumours that Polish Fabryka Broni "Łucznik" Radom was to take part in the SHOT Show for the first time.

The new design rail LWRC M6 SPR with twist flute SS match barrel.

As seen here the prototype has the carbine length gas system, the future production version will have the actual M6A3 mid length piston system

The new rail system is slimmer, lighter, and has the modular rail attachment points so you do not have to have rail where it does not require one.

The teaming of Remington and AAC created some very interesting products, one of those is the creation is by Robert Silvers and Remington on a out of box precision rifle. This is the Remington/AAC Blackout rifle.

MSRP not known exactly but should be under $1500.

The US gov't pay about 2800 for the SCAR....that package includes a suppressor, several barrel options, and a number of magazines. the actual cost of the gun itself is about 1500.00. because FN did not want anyone in the gov't bitch about why the civilian SCAR are cheaper, they just price them the same as the mil guns but with a lot less accessories.

Remington ACRs are 300.00-400.00 more than Bushmaster

Now Ive been backing the ACR for the next mil weapon, even after the bushy pricing because i thought that Remington would sell to government for less, but this is getting ridiculous.

But, would a suppresor really work with a machine gun?

Why wouldn't it work on a machine gun? The only difference you'd need is a can that can support a higher volume of fire.

Interesting enough this new revision of the SSR feature a few changes from previously shown SCAR-H SSR. noticeably is the change from AAC to Surefire suppressor. This might be a sign of the Remington purchase of AAC.

Next is the change from LaRue scope mount to ADM. I feel like somehow I had something to do with this..

Originally the stock was just the plain SCAR-H stock, test after tests, the realization of a more dedicated precision stock was a must. thus the new non-folding stock you see displayed at the SHOT.

Up next is the FN45 pistol.....This is a 15 rds 45AQCP pistol that actually accommodated my normal size hands. Unlike the Glock 21 which is way to big for anyone outside of King Kong, compare to the Glock, this FN pistol is a gem.

The double action first pull are acceptable, and the single action pull are SIG P226 like, with a solid reset.

KAC has always been on my every year must visit list. not only do KAC make some of the most innovating products, I also get the chance to chat with my friend Lt. Col Dave Lutz Retired. one of the few true gentleman in the industry and an all around great guy. not to mention I get to hangout with KevinB.

I start with a very interesting product at KAC this year. The very innovative KAC PDW utilize a 6x35 round developed by KAC. This gun as you see here utilize this new round and based the entire system on a M4 platform. a new magazine in the M16 pattern will also do the feeding duty. KAC is seeking major ammo manufacture to produce this round for consumption.

From the outside it appears to be a short CQB-R. but the gun is chambered for KAC's 6x35.

The Remington gas piston looks sexy. What's the difference between the fixed stock and the collapsible on the ACR when shooting? Also how many different patterns of ATACS were there?

How did you like the ARX160, and will it be released to the civilian market?

Geezah,

There is no indication that the ARX160 will ever be released to the civilian market, but they do have LE pricing available, but only to LE agency not to individual LE officers.

I like the ARX160, it is lighter than the ACR, and it seems to be working better than the ACR and much better engineered and tested. as compare to the SCAR, I am still a SCAR fan.

the switchable charging handle is interesting, but how often do you need to change the side where the charging handle resides? but none the less, the concept is very innovating and interesting. I also question the durability of the rear locking tab, how much abuse can it take especially it is made of polymer.

So far I place the ARX160 above the ACR, but slightly below the SCAR. I might change my mind if I ever get a chance to shoot the ARX160.

The ARX160 would have made more sense (too me at least) as a bullpup, switchable ejection, easy break down, barrel change, etc...

Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures Chen. What most caught your eye at this years show? (other than the show girls!)

Not been a big fan of Beretta, but this caught my eye and would be nice(if made well and a decent price) to purchase as a way to thumb my nose at Bushmaster.

Slowly but surely, I'm getting my M4 type to look like this. I've got the FDE AFG and MIAD hand grip, getting the alternating FDE XTM panels tomorrow, and with luck, a pre-ban lower that will accommodate a FDE collapsible butt stock soon.

Hood,

If you are in California, you can not get a pre-ban, you will have to deal with bullet button and a OLL receiver.

If you are in a free state, you can mount a collapsible stock to any ,lower you purchase.

Yeah, I'm in that wonderful middle ground state, NY. As long as it's pre-1994, I'm good.

Hood,

You should post on ARFcom and see if there is anyone willing to sell you a pre-94 stripped lower for the price of a new lower in the Free States.

Just a suggestion, as it might help you avoid paying a kings ransom.....
