In 2002, there were 2 goats, 1 black buck, 1 ram, 2 shetland ponies, 1 wolf hound, 1 drum horse and 1 ferret.

There were also 420 horses and 1,100 dogs.

Far left is the Argyll's Regimental Mascot (I think... not sure of it's name )

Does anyone have any info on this mascot? *looks to Argyll*

This is my Pipe band (Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada) in 2000 at the Edinburgh Tattoo (I didn't join them until Feb. 2002).

The mascot for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders is a Shetland Pony named "Cruachan". First presented by Princess Louise in 1929 I believe the one pictured above is Cruachan III.

My first Battalion 8/9RAR had a Merino Ram and my last Battalion 6RAR has a Blue Healer cattle dog. 1RAR has a pony, 5/7RAR has a tiger and a pig (not sure if they still have the pig), 4RAR has a little frankenstein doll which is para qualified.

I should hope so,otherwise it's been photoshopped!!

When I served in the 80's Cruachan had retired, and was a L/Cpl,so we never had a placed Regimantal Mascot within Battalion,I'm sure he Cruachan 3 arrived back and started serving in the mid-late 90's.

Cruachan 2 also bit the Queen during one of her visits, and was reduced to the rank of Pte,and also had a little bit of a drinking problem......seriously!

Cruachan 2 also bit the Queen Sounds like treason to me, orrfff with his head. :D

I think i read in a book called "The Joker" about someone in the Parachute Regiment accidently shooting another regiments mascot.

I think the Paras mascot was a Shetland pony described as "evil" called Brunvel(spelling?).

Anyone have a picture of the ferret i heard it wears a jacket and hat?

The coldstream used to have a goose because it alerted them of Canadian Rebels attacking their base one night. The goose was later run over by a london taxi. Its head and kneck is preserved in their museum.
