A helicopter made an emergency landing a little before 8:30 a.m. Sunday on MoPac. It landed on the northbound access road near Barton Creek Mall and Loop 360.
The helicopter landed safely. No one was hurt.
The chopper is from the Air National Guard based out of Houston. They were flying in for an event Sunday morning at Camp Mabry.
Witnesses said four other helicopters were flying in a formation with the one that set down. One witness said a big cloud of smoke come out of it before the emergency landing.
The other helicopters were still circling the area right after the incident.
Austin police said a failed part forced the helicopter pilot set down.
Cars were allowed to go around the site on the access road, but large trucks had to detour differently.
