Colin Gunn, an underworld godfather who ordered the execution of two grandparents, has now had his social networking site closed down by prison bosses.

The 42-year-old from Nottingham was jailed over the revenge murders of John and Joan Stirland in 2004.
The Sunday Times reported that Gunn said in one posting: "I will be home one day and I can't wait to look into certain people's eyes and see the fear of me being there."

It comes after last week's revelation that one of the killers of teenager Ben Kinsella used Facebook to taunt his victim's family.

Jade Braithwaite, jailed for knifing to death Ben Kinsella, 16, used Facebook to taunt his victim's family.
Braithwaite is thought to have used a mobile phone to set up his page on the social networking website.
Ben's sister, former EastEnders (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fc/soap-operas.html) actress Brooke Kinsella, said she and her family were "appalled" that Braithwaite was able to operate a Facebook page from inside prison.

According to the Ministry of Justice, prisoners are prohibited from accessing social networking sites.

A prison service spokesperson said: "The prison uses state-of-the-art mobile phone detection equipment and thorough, regular searching, and there is indication at all that this prisoner has used or accessed a mobile phone.

"Further (sic) he has had no access to the internet via a computer."

But the spokesperson added that the prison service is helpless to stop "third parties outside the prison system from publishing information on behalf of a prisoner".

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: "We are extremely concerned that prisoners are able to update Facebook and other social networking sites either through illicit technology (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/technology.html) or via outside contacts.

"We recognise that it is deeply distressing for victims and their families and friends and we have made it clear to Facebook that we do not think it acceptable or appropriate for these sites to remain active, something Facebook agrees with."

Earlier this month, relatives of victims of violent crime (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fc/crime-punishment.html) called for the introduction of electronic anti-social behaviour orders, or "E-Asbos".

Justice Secretary Jack Straw said he was seeking a meeting with Facebook bosses.

"I have sought the assistance of Facebook to have these profiles removed and we will continue to press for removal of these," he said.

"I am also hoping to meet with Ofcom, Facebook, victims' representatives."

Facebook has released a statement insisting the networking site is "appalled by these reports".

"Facebook's rules ban users from harassment or intimidation. They also prohibit the creation of fake profiles and sharing profile access details with other people."

It added that it will be "working closely" with the Ministry of Justice to see "what further steps and precautions are needed".

These ****s should get an additional year added to their sentences,
for every comment posted in their names.:bash:

To be factual, it happened in the United Kingdom., of which England, Scotland & Wales are all part along with Northern Ireland.

Im not surprised with the population of a prison that someone will be creative in smuggling in a phone but surely theres a technological way of blocking a signal? Im sure it was mentioned years ago for being put in theatres so it cant be that expensive against the potential damage to society?

[/URL]HOUSTON — The nation's second-largest prison system is enforcing a lockdown after authorities learned a condemned killer had made threatening calls to a Texas state senator from a cell phone smuggled into death row.

In the U.S., there are several states considering legislative bills to locate and target, or jam, or do something about this however, the FCC authority, and potential for blocking legitimate calls are still concerns, among others.

In what the first line it says "One of Britain's most dangerous gangsters has been using Facebook to threaten his enemies from inside a maximum security prison" so it should give you a clue. Plus this isn't 1706 you know, England is now part of the United Kingdom.

Sounds like a sensible reason, i had assumed it was a budgeting problem.
