my Old Navy Nylon messenger bag is shredding to bits already and I'm looking for a military-themed messenger bag
that fits a netbook with pockets for iPods and accessories.

Price range negotiable http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif

maxpeditions a good choice. You would probably break before it did.

all the bike couriers around here seem to use these: http://www.chromebagsstore.com/bags.html Some look like they've been to hell and back, and still going strong.

why "military theme"?

They have Multi-Cam. I was given one as a gift a few years back, in Multi-Cam. The bag is awesome, but the MC makes it so gawdamn ghey I don't use it.

It isn't MultiCam. it is a knock-off

That's funny! I am looking for exactly the same at the moment.

My choice at the moment: A SOTE Mission Go Bag like this one

If you got bucks: Eagle Industries courier bag. On a budget: Condor messenger bag.

I wanna be a poser...lol

I just move away from the black/grey/red combo that I have been stuck with for so many yrs. I really don't want to go full Jack Bauer too.

yep, someone suggested two Eagle Industry but at $183, I have to really justify price to zombie/end of the world scenario before purchasing...end sarcasm...but they are highly recommended. thanks for the additional vote for the Eagle Industries courier bag.

Condor looks nice, wonder if my Asus Eeepc would fit there.

keep the suggestions coming guys

The maxpedition unit i posted is $115. Pretty cheap IMO. It will fit the asus. Good luck finding your BDB.

Head to your local surplus store dude. Thats where I got mine. I believe its a replica of a German backpack or something. Its OD canvas and has lasted me about 3 years with regular light to heavy use.

That company is highly recommended by a friend who is a messenger. But he has reservations about the laptop padding.

Try this bag:
http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302699955&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442629007&bmUID=1265326344763

It's in Universal Camo and it's rock solid. I've got the backpack version and the quality is great, especially considering the price (more so now that it's on clearance). You may have to put your asus in a laptop sleeve though.

The only other catch is that you have to have to be a member to purchase from MEC, although it's only $5 for a lifetime membership.

"Manpurse" WTF?!? Thanks a lot! That ruined it for me, haha

I'll stick with the Mission go Bag. USCAV actually has them in 2 sizes.

http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?productID=18295&TabID=548

Still not sure whether I want the big one or the smaller one, which you can also get from most of the regular Hongkong Gear Retailers

I strongly reccommend timbuk 2 it will seriously last you a lifetime and much cheaper than gucci eagle or maxpedition. You can build your own bags on the website, choose canvas or nylon outer material, and they come standard with waterproof plastic lining. Extremely durable I've been using mine everyday since 2003 and it still looks great. Also you should really think about weight when choosing a bag. The lighter it is the more s**t you can carry. timbuk 2's are really light. You wont regret getting one. I take a black sharpie and color in the gay yellow logos on the bag and add a a shoulder pad.

I might be off the line, but what the hell:

A normal backpack? I fail to see how a man-bag is more useful.

The best right now is Emdom TNT bag, the upcoming contender is Kifaru's OTW bag (not yet released). Honorable Mention: S.O. Tech Mission Go Bag.

I got one of these on a trip to China, cost like $3 I think.

I used to wear it in uniform, but I'd hide the flap with Chairman Mao. It looked like a normal US Army map case.
Or for authenticity you could just go with an *actual* US Army map case.

Original thread is in search of messenger bag......one sling.....backpack will be too big for a netbook and DSLR that I intend to carry to work.

I already have a Targus and a military issued backpack.

I just needed a single sling messenger bag

@ Dave81, I'm really digging that bag and not a bad price too.

Well you're in luck, there are tons of them on eBay.

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=chairman+mao+bag

Just be aware that many of them have a shipping fee of $20, as they're coming direct from China. You can find cheaper ones, though.
