Good morning my learned friends. I briefly caught a programme on the History Channel last night about Jesse James and the Knights of the Golden Circle, I was under the impression that the society disbanded in 1864.

Has anyone read any good books on the subject that they can recommend? I am after a little bit more analysis than is usually presented through Wiki, which is normally so far from the truth it is not a trust worthy source, most of the time. Especially with those subjects that are not widely known about such as this one, it is the first time I have ever heard of the KGC.

Thanks in advance
Todd

I'll try to remember the names of the books. You might want to try some references about them prior the Civil War. It is not a well covered subject, being over shadowed by the war.

That is what you are hunting for - It is old, very old, but it is without peer in your quest for more information on this group.

use the page links on the left and view them one by one... clicking 'read entire text' gets a wall thats brain and eye hurting.

Hope these are of some use.

Thanks 2495 that is brilliant, the older the text the better as usually it is first hand accounts as opposed to theories and speculation of modern day investigators.

Click the link and go have a read - the complete book from front to back. Well worth it. I suggest joining Scribd (free) and then down loading it.

Google Books is usually a good place to find texts that are in the public domain:

An Authentic exposition of the "K.G.C."
