Wow, it sounds like a story from the Wild Geese or Dogs of War from the 1970s.

Dynocorp? As for the described operation didn't sound all that much different from Executive outcome. Except for being hired by a rebel rather than a government. But to me, in region concerned, that doesn't make much of a difference with regards to the level of violence employed by some of those governments to stay on top, not to mention the level of corruption, unequal share of wealth and general mismanagement. Not that any winning rebel will be any better when they in turn become "government".
External aid to achieve or maintain power in return for cheap extraction of natural resources.
Does Sandline exist anymore? And if so have they used "Dynocorp" as a front in the same way they once hid behind Executive outcomes?

Equatorial Guinea = Guinea Konakry?

Read an autobiography of a Norwegian ex-legionnaire who served in 2eme REP during late 60's early 70's, and who claimed he had once been part of a small REP task force attempting to overthrow the then dictator in Guinea Konakry on behalf of French political interests in the region. The mission went awry (they had apparently been expected), but managed to slip away from the pursuing enemy forces including dead and causalties. If claimed incident is real it should have taken place somewhere between 1971-1973.

The guy in charge, so i've heard, was the UK national mentioned. He's an ex-officer from the SAS and also went to the same school that Prince William and Harry went to .... now he's a mercenary ... p-)

That's what I heard reported on the news, so may of course be inaccurate.

The first Wild Geese film was fantastic with Burton and Harris on top form, but the sequel turned out be absolute ****e.
