WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has approved the payment of $30 million in reward money to the tipster who supplied the critical information that led U.S. troops to the hideout of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s two sons, slain two weeks ago, a U.S. official said Thursday.

Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) decided to award the tipster $15 million each for information that led authorities to Odai and Qusai's hideout — a total of $30 million, the largest award ever made under the reward program.

The brothers were killed by TOW missiles fired into the villa in the northern city of Mosul where they had been hiding.

The U.S. government's policy is not to publicly identify informants.

But neighbors of Sheik Nawaf al-Zaydan Muhhamad, an Iraqi with ties to Saddam Hussein, have blamed him for tipping off coalition forces that the ousted Iraqi leader's sons Odai and Qusai were staying with him and his family.

They said they became suspicious of the sheik when his wife and their four daughters left the house early the morning of the shootings and did not return.

Three hours after the women left, U.S. troops walked up to the front door, knocked and asked all those inside to come out. Muhhamad and his only son, Shalan, left with their hands on their heads, neighbors said. Coalition forces took them away.

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said the next U.S. goal is to get Saddam, himself. A $25 million reward has been posted for his capture.

that money could be spent on better things, 30 million just for a damn tip to kill to ugly pricks, we should have captured them and get info from them....then it might be worth 30 million...so much for better border patrol, or tax cuts.... :fork:

The £20m jackpot (http://www.opinion.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2003/07/27/wirq127.xml&sSheet=/news/2003/07/27/ixnewstop.html)

My favorite quote from this article:
"His final words to me were: 'This time I think the Americans are serious. Bush is not like Clinton. I think this is the end'."

This remark clearly shows the damage Clinton did to the US, his behavior and lack of decisive action against terrorism emboldened the, because it made them think they can get away with it, and they have gotten away with it during Clinton.

I think all terrorists and America hating dictators are finally figuring this out.

A 10 Cent /person Tax-Cut, WOW! ($30 Million/300 Million People). Remember, the bulk of Tax Breaks go to those with the Highest Tax Burden. The Brothers were reported to have had $100 million in cash on them at the time, I think. What of the $6 Billion Taxpayer Dollars Israel gets this year alone, TAX FREE. That equates to about $20.00 a person. So Fughetaboudit....

Well, the obvious conclusion from the intelligence reports would have been to attack Saudi Arabia with all available means. Clinton did not dare, Bush still does not dare even to reveal their major role in financing 9/11. And Israel still possesses 200 nuclear warheads and other NBC stuff, where is task force 20?

HE219, if i wanted a lesson on economics i would have taken a class about it. its principal, we gave 30 million dollars to some guy who will probly give that money to fund terrorists. plus, all the guy did was "hey marines, saddams sons are at this house" a reward is worthy, but not 30 million dollars...1 million AT THE MOST. in our govt, every penny goes to something, personally i rather they used that money to stop all this illegal imagration, but they dont see it for the problem it will become. :cantbeli:

Give him the 30 million, but keep tabs on it. Quite simple. If we don't give him the money it will be like saying "sike!", then fewer people there will trust us and I don't think that's what we need.
