Do you want to be payed or do volunteer work?
I've done teaching english as a foreign language (TEFL) in India. I went as a volunteer which is far easier to do, but obvioulsy you need money to start with.

paid basically!
Paid is tougher, because if you do volunteer work you can just get a tourist visa, a working visa takes longer to get and costs more. Paid work limits you to big cities, especially if you want to pay for your flights,
If china is as I suspect like India, you'll have a hard time finding somewhere that will pay you enough. 2 years ago the best place to go for paid work was South Korea (combination of good salary and relatively cheap cost of living).
To earn a decent amount you'll most likely be teaching businessmen rather then kids. You need a degree for those types of jobs.
I hope that helps..
What are you planning to do?

Will you teach English in China? I think it's a easy job for you, and you will have a good chance to make trips in China. The life spending in China is very low. All Chinese children begin learn English at elementary school. Wish you have a good time in China. :D
Not to try to change your mind or anything, but cut is right. Teaching in China is hard to pull off. My Mom retired from TN last year an she and my stepfather are spending a year in different places teaching for the next 6-8 years. They were in AK last year but China is on the list of place they have looked into. The paper work was overwhelming and I think they have put it on the backburner.
Consider US DoD and non-Communist countries. If you can be flixible until late in the summer [like late July and maybe into August] you will likely get a DoD post. My Mom had alread agreed to go to AK when she got the word from DoD in August that she could have gone to Guam. She was a little bummed but she'l probably get another change.
Unless something comes up qucik they are going to a different littel upic village on the Pacific Coast of AK.

Just remember not to walk into jobs without making sure you actually get paid on time and the amount you were promised. Some run-of-the-mill english teacher without Guanxi can easily be replaced if problems arise.

Food in Chongqing are all very very very HOT!!!!
People of SiChuan province like to eat capsicum.....
And if it is your first time to China, I suggest you put up with some culture
differences....Maybe some people will say sth that make you angery, but in fact ,that's not their purpose...
I should also tell you that some english schools in China are CHEAT!
1)Read the contract carefully!!!
2)If they break their words when you arrive China, please stop teaching
and ask your embassy for help, ask your embassy to complain to the local government.,,,,
Money for foreigners in China is not a problem...life spending in China is very low....
Chongqing is a big city in Sichuan but not very morden as Beijing or Shanghai....
Take care of yourself there....I hope that you will like your job there..
:D :D :D Welcome To China
