Permskii,

on the first picture is what seems like a 1st gen. night sight, correct?

Are these kinds of sights still in active service? I mean, they're (or at least look to be) pretty freaking big and heavy...And that doesn't do much good for balance of the gun, I imagine?

Are there any Russian devices in the class of Mini N/SEAS of the Finnish VV2000 in use?

The Russians have plenty of 2nd and 3rd gen II sights and 4th gen are being perfected.

The 1PN93 series is quite a good example and like the sight depicted has ballistic drums that can be changed for the weapon it is fixed to to allow it to be used on weapons as ballistically different as PKM GPMGs, RPG-7 ATRLs, AK-74, AKM, VSS, SVD.

Some russian tubes are very good, and they are used by western industries too.
But these tubes are not screened to alpha rays, so are very dangerous for the human eye. They are very expensive, same cost of an western tube of same quality. So I prefere Photonis, DEP, and ITT tubes.

Hahahahahaha.... that old wives tale!!! Hahahahahaha.

Sorry, but that alpha wave crap is just bull****. Alpha waves and Beta waves for that matter are stopped by paper or even skin. They wouldn't penetrate the thinnest layer of glass let alone the lens of a sight.

The light enters the front of the lens and hits a photo sensitive plate. The photons (light elements) are converted into electrons (ie electrical current) and then amplified a few thousand times and then displayed on a small screen... what part of that process generates alpha rays???

And what sort of super lenses do western scopes use that will stop these rays? ...must be super secret if the Russians can't get hold of a single example and copy it!!!

How can you explain that all night vision devices as Dipol, that are traded by hundred of firms of western countries, are brought before in USA, and later traded in western countries.
They are never traded without screening bys US or Canadian firms.

What are you trying to say here? Are you suggesting that Russia and other former Soviet states never export directly to any country other than the US or Canada and for some strange reason when they arrive in Canada or the US a screen is fitted to them? Why would the Americans or Canadians provide such a service?

So the US and Canada have the ability to screen Russian products as the cross the border with China? What is to stop me from flying to China right now and taking a bus to a border area, going to a market and buying some Russian NV gear? Who will check it? I am sure Chinese customs will have a look, and NZ customs will look but I won't be going anywhere near any US or Canadian places... do you think more NV devices are sold legitimately or on the black market?

For a strange coincidence, I am an importer of NVD!
The russian NVD, ot biellorussian, we sent them to specialised firms in USA or Canada, we PAY, and they screen!
This to offer to European user a secure product.
Regards.
