Iran to execute stone-throwing demonstrator
A student who was arrested for throwing a stone during pro-democracy demonstrations is to be executed, Iran said yesterday.

Mohammad-Amin Valian, a 20-year-old Islamic studies student, was arrested on the basis of a photograph taken at a mass demonstration against the rigged presidential election last year. He was among six people convicted of the Islamic crime of moharebeh, or waging war against God.
Their sentences were announced in an apparent attempt to forestall fresh demonstrations to coincide with yesterday's annual festival of fire.
Mr Valian's plight has become a rallying point for opponents of the regime and yesterday's announcement is the latest blow to the movement. The combination of his young age and the flimsy nature of his offence has spurred condemnation of the severity of the sentence.

Clashes were reported last night as Iranians celebrated Charshanbe Soori, a pre-Islamic bonfire night, in defiance of warnings of severe retaliation from the regime.

Video uploaded on the internet showed students challenging the security cordon at two universities and Tehran squares witnessed sporadic outbreaks of violence.

State media had warned people to stay away from the traditional celebrations and said that thousands of extra police and security forces had been deployed to handle trouble makers.

Iran has failed to extinguish the challenge it faces from the streets over democratic reforms. The opposition has surmounted a ban on public gatherings by using official holidays to rally.

Leading opposition figures renewed their opposition to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in messages to mark the festival.
"Unfortunately the current republic is plagued with despotism and elections have become meaningless," Mehdi Karoubi, one of the losing candidates in the election, said. "This government has not been formed upon the people's votes, and the result has been social unrest."

^

Setting an example by murdering someone who exercised his humane right to speak out. Who knows how many people have died since this all began, while everyone in the global community just stood by and watched. The Iranian government should not be looked at as a legit government but as a band of plunders and murderers of the Iranian people.

This 20 year old kid hasn't even been given a chance in life yet.
Imagine what he "could have" accomplished

Well hopefully the people stand up against this government and bring it down.

They are going to put a rope around his neck and hoist him up about thirty feet into the air on a crane where he will suffocate until eventually he's dead while probably hundreds of others watch him die. A 20 year old lad who threw a stone. He probably won't be on his own either. They seem to like doing this in batches and some of those probably won't have done much more than what he did. In my book, it's an atrocity and I hope one day, those responsible, will pay for their actions.

The (abused) religion of peace strikes again. This time not against infidels but against one of their own.

You know a country is primitive when they have laws against blasphemy and "waging war against god".

And then they're trying to present themselves as the good guys and Israel as the villain. And people are BUYING this.

You know a country is primitive when they have laws against blasphemy and "waging war against god".

Most countries have laws against blasphemy - but these tend to protect not only single (or even specified) religion, it's abuses are more or less detailed and confirmed by courts, prosecution is usually on direct requests and punishment limited to public apology and contribution to local charity or sort of this...

Religious cause you had in Pakistan recently; here it's simply a political agenda disguised under religious umbrella to provide it sort of legitimacy.

Hmmm.... All of this leads me to write a note to self.

Note to self:
When in Iran, do not:
Throw stones, kiss, hold hands with women, hold hands with men, have *** with a woman who is not my wife, have anal *** with any woman - wife or not, have public *** with anyone, have *** with any man - wife or not, have anal *** with any man - wife or not, kiss girlfriend in public, kiss boyfriend in public, (however, kissing ass of any public official seems to be perfectly acceptable!?!!) yell in public, join demonstration, look like a demonstrator, act like a demonstrator, run like a demonstrator, write an opinion piece to a newspaper, read an opinion piece in a newspaper, (hell, just don't touch a newspaper!) and finally beating meat, choking chicken, and spanking monkey should also be avoided.:roll::roll:

More to be added as I think of them. Feel free to add some yourself.

Thought of some others.
When in Iran, do not admit that you are Catholic, Protestant, Ba'hai, Jewish, Hindu, Zoroastrian, Christian, athiest, agnostic, or tribal.

It's the government, not the country. Regardless, living in Brazil doesn't give you much room to talk.

Same sh*t different day. They're just making an example. They're only hurting themselves though, the Iranian people are stronger than that.
