As the Army mourns the death of another bomb disposal specialist, what does it take to do this perilous job?

made of reinforced steel
Calm, precision, accuracy, calm, balls of steel, precision, extra large balls of steel...
EOD and ATO - the two roles I would buy beer all night for no questions asked.

We had a small ammo dump used for quick resupply by some SOG guys.
They had chopper fuel stacked right next to it.
The fuel got hit and cooked off the rockets and linked 40mm.
Next day there was unexploded stuff all over the place.
They flew in some EOD giys for the clean up.
One genius-an E7, even, shot a rocket about 20 feet from him-and me with his M14.
It detonated and a big chunk shattered his leg.
I was ready to shatter his stoopid skull.
He was not representative of a good EOD guy.
