my girlfriend recently told me a story about how some soldiers, incudling reservists aren't getting paid. she told me of a story about how this one soldier has a conflict of wanting to serve, but not getting paid is keeping him from being happy. and this one mom said as much as she wants to fulfill her duty to her country, she has another duty to fill her children with food. though she might be saying this to keep me from going, i looked up and found no such story. she said it was the worldnews.

anyone hear anything about this?

Possibly they meant not being paid enough? The military, as great as it is, isn't exactly competitive with the civilian world, even after benefits and breaks. Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

I've heard some stories where NG guys not getting pay due to some paper work problems and/or admin people in the battalion still have their heads far up their ass, but that only lasted for like 1-2 months or so. As far as NOT getting pay, then no.

National Guard usually have more problems with pay than regular Army since most of their desk jockeys work part time, very few are AGRs.

As with any LARGE bureaucracy SNAFUs with pay occur. Rest assured there pay problems rank among the highest for the command to fix, I know, I'm a 1SG. Every month come LES time I get to fix those problems.

The NG still owes me over $1000 for this summer's AT.

Aren't you guys get pay every 2 weeks?

It's your option, once or twice a month. Mid-month LES doesn't contain as much info as the end of month LES. It's always the end of month LES that shows if you got screwed or not.

You get screw even more if you run out of beer money in the middle of that month.

Why am I not surprised

I once made the mistake of asking for an advance when the Army forgot to pay me three months in a row. They then paid too much the next month and later didn't pay at all for another four. Meanwhle the CO is bitchiing at me for bouncing checks and top is cussin me out for taking the advance in the first place...

I'm still getting hell for ditty move taxes that were never done right; I paid twice! Every year the IRS asks about it. Worse yet, the Army refused to pay me my seperation because of a computer glitch when the government had no funds and the data people weren't there the day I out processed. That's fixed now BTW.

The two most important rules for employing anyone:

1.) Never F#@K with people's pay

2.) If you have any remaining questions, see rule #1

As mentioned previously......EVERY large organization has admin problems......the key is prioritizing pay problems, and not going home until they're fixed......as many live paycheck to paycheck

A bunch of guys from my unit in Illinois havent been paid for the past 2 drill months. :cantbeli: It is simply an Admin problem. Jack is right, National Guard does have a lot of pay problems. It's either people are getting paid for their old rank or not getting paid for a few months. It's all screwed up.
