What a game! And well done to the All Blacks, they deserved that win thoroughly. Still, I'm a bit disappointed that we lost the game in the dying seconds of the match :(

Well, I think it's safe to say 2 things: 1) all my pre-match predictions were wrong, and (2) the springboks really are back.

I expected our tight 5 to dominate, and they never did (good selection choice on using a short front-row for New Zealand). I expected the Springboks to look poor on attack - but they were actually dangerous (3 tries to 1 against the mighty All Blacks is a victory in itself). I expected the All Blacks to run through us with ease - but our defense was suprisingly good, excellent in fact.

I was very impressed with the AB ball retention, truly superb. I was disappointed with the "non-performance" of our tight 5, but this will better when Matfield is back. I was thoroughly pissed off with our poor option taking and ball-handling. On the whole, this Springbok team will get better... and this year's Tri-Nations is going to be a hard fought affair.

Looks to be the closest and hardest fought Tri-Nations in quite a few years.

It was a real nail biter

The best match I've seen here in Christchurch.

Well done to the Boks....they are back!

I know bugger all about Rugby, but I have the impression that there is a three way relationship between the aussies, the all blacks and the springboks that seems strange. The Springboks respect us more than they do the aussies as a rugby nation and as a consequence have more trouble with us than they do with the Aussies (that had better look out in this years competition by the looks of things), while I think we fear the aussies more than the boks and therefore have more trouble beating the aussies than the boks, while australia seems to have more trouble beating the boks than they do the all blacks.

This is of course not to say that the ABs are superior to the boks or the roos, or any other combination... I think on their day any of the three teams can beat either of the other teams.

And when I say respect, I think I mean that in the case of the all blacks we hate losing to the aussies more than we hate losing to the boks, while I think the boks would feel more proud of beating the ABs than beating the aussies. And I think the aussies prefer to beat the ABs than the Boks but they seem to lose games they shouldn't against the boks more than against the ABs.

Like I said, I don't know much about Rugby (and yes I am a New Zealander).

To be honest I'd prefer to see an ABs vs Boks final... that aussie coach is such a whiner... accusing other teams of cheating... of course the all blacks cheat... if no team cheated why would you need a referee and line umpires... I guess Australia never break the rules

If you buggers stop cheating, we will stop whinging (we can't help the whinging it's the Pom coming out in us :P ). Brendan Cannon sorted that cheating out anyway woot . Gee that Keven Mealamu can take a punch, very impressive.

For us it's about beating the Kiwi's, they are our brothers and everyone loves beating their brother. They are also the best team going around (one day they will learn how to win or stop choking in world cups and prove it) and everyone wants to beat the best.

The Boks have missed out on twenty years or so of International competition and from our side the traditional rivalry is still building back up to previous levels, but they hate us with a passion for some reason. There are enough expats here in Perth to indicate that they don't mind living here but they love beating us on the sporting field. Reckon they must be jealous :P .

What? Where did you get that from?

Personally, I've got nothing against the Aussie team at all.... although I hate your coach, your scrum-half, your forwards, and most of the backs. Joking!!

Seriously, I'm not sure what you mean. We like to beat the Aussies, but if there is any team we hate it's England (not sure why). On the other hand, it seems that some of the people from that part of the world have a bit of a problem with the... whats that term you guys use? Jaapies? South African rugby supporters tend to feel that we are hated by - well, just about everyone ;)
