Did the M200 ever make it to the battlefield? I heard from someone that it got laughed off the range, I am not buying it.

Have you guys heard of it getting deployed?

Why do people on these forums always have a sh*t attitude towards members asking questions? How about you try and answer his question in a constructive manner, instead of trying to belittle him? Or would that just be too much for you to try and attempt?

I have only heard of and seen this rifle in movies and video games, but what exactly makes it so special? And what forces are confirmed to be using it around the world?

It was laughed off the range at XE. So i heard through the NSW pipeline.

Anybody read HIT my M. Haugen? Great read and you can see where systems like this fit in... few and far between.

I'm not a fan of firearms companies that purposely neuter their civilian legal version to be less accurate at range. As if they produce the only rifle capable of making hits beyond a mile...yeah right. CheyTac can stick to video games.

I've been told that the Hellenic Navy Underwater Demolition Command operates the CheyTac Μ200 (.408), alongside with the Barret M82A1.

I think Turkey also has it.

Yes, Turkey is currently one of the largest users of the Cheytac. However, I think Turkey is trying to use more domestic sniper rifles.

Always aggravating to me how many different firearms we use.

The main problem with CheyTac is the price and availability of ammunition.

Exactly right. Just one more round to add to the logistical supply train for a military. Then you've got to weight the added cost and inevitable issues with keeping enough rounds provided to the right people to justify the improvements it offers. Scales tend to tip away from obtaining the M200 for most folks having to deal with real world.

I think the soon-to-be official (or unofficial) NATO standard the 8,6 mm x 70 (.338 Lapua Magnum) round will replace and remove all strange cartridges from inventory. Only remains will be still used by some black/green/yellow/whatever special ops in their covert operations, that's all.

war is money and therefore every firearms company wants their own, individual, slice of the pie.
