Hey, i've got a TA01 ACOG with doctor red dot. I removed the redot during deployment because i never really used it. But of course, lost the mounting screws. Anyone know what size are the mounting screws to reattach it to the ACOG? or a good place to obtain replacements?
Thanks.

A Watchmaker should be able to provide you with the right sized screws.

Ask this question over at www.ar15.com or www.m4carbine.net, somebody is bound to know.

Yeah ar15 was going to be my next stop. Already contacted Trijicon but haven't got a response yet.

They probably think you're either a Mujah spy or Airsoft nutbag!

I think they are 8-40 screws...not sure on length though, maybe 1/2". Take it to a hardware store and see which screw will fit w/o problems, then find the appropriate length.

How did your ACOG hold up in field use? Did you have troubles with holding zero?

My issued TA31 has beaten to death and abused and still does what its supposed to do. The BAC isn't going to be exactly where the round will impact. The BAC is more of a guidline. I'm sure my TA31 ECOS will do the same thing, but since I bought it and it looks too pretty to be banged up, I'm not willing to abuse it.
Usually ACOGs that have problems with holding zero, is the user's fault (I.E. the mount is not secure; the optic has been taken off and put back on w/o the same torque it was zero'd at; the optic was moved to a different location; the elevation and windage adjustments were forced when they were bottomed out). I've noticed the most comment "breaks" were from the optic hitting a surface too hard causing the "white mist" inside the optic. I haven't seen any accuracy issues with that so far, but makes it really hard to see though the optic. Whenever that happens, its always replaced/removed immediately (though some people never say anything about it because they think its fine - military wise anyway).

never had any zero retention issues with ACOGs. Mine got beat up, dropped, man-handled in A-stan and every confirm zero, was spot on or very close. ACOG's are very good, sooo much better then the MGO or CCO

@Heazy - thankfully they solved the MGO's problem with the SpecterDR. I love my SpecterDR, have had zero issues with it maintaining it's zero. It comes standard with an ARMS lever, and it has locks for the elevation and windage.
