Man dies hours before ceremony honouring his father

TRENTON, Ont. - Leroy Lawes had said it was going to be the trip of a lifetime.
The Trenton, Ont., man couldn’t wait to be in Holland for the 65th anniversary of the country’s liberation by Canadian troops, where his late father, Marshall, was to be honoured by having a bridge named after him.
Hours before the ceremony, Lawes died in his sleep, very near the spot where his father had been killed by a sniper's bullet decades earlier. He was 67.
