Not all that strange depending on what you're typical enemy is and what you need your more capable armor...to be capable of doing. Take the South Africans for example, they've been using 8x8 wheeled vehicles as "tanks" for quite a while now.

no,you haven't misunderstood,probably It will replace leopards but i don't agree with the decison.

It will not replace Leopards, the army are willing to evaluate it but not for a possible replace of a Leo.
But maybe it will replace the other Centuro's (armed uintil now with a 105 mm) tower with a 120, so to standartise the gun calibre in for the armored vehicles?
