They want too... bad, but I don't think it will happen for a while.

They plan to buy the F-35, but not the F-22.

I hope no one gets the F-22 other than ourselves. That would defeat the whole purpose of fielding it if we sold it to another country, even if its an ally.

i do not think that Lockheed martin and the US will even begin to talk about contracts for the f35 for isreal until a final design changes and testsing is completed and the production model is relaised.
As fore the f-22 i am not sure but they probably would rather have the f22b (bomber)

Word is that the F-22 will be available for Australia if we so desire woot

I don’t think Israel is getting the F-22 but the F-35 we for sure are getting.....heck I believe Israel is a member nation that is actually working as part of the design team for the F-35, so not only are we getting it, but the ones we get (and perhaps the ones in general) will have some Israeli electronics and avionics (and perhaps missiles as well) in them :D
Shalom :D

For the JSF program, Lockheed Martin's got eight "international partners": the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Turkey.
While a number of Israeli companies are contracted for some of the F-35's components (example: Elbit's working with Kaiser Electronics on the F-35's helmet-mounted display system), Israel is not considered an "international partner", only a "foreign military sales participant". Same thing with Singapore.
You're right though, Israeli electronics and avionics are definitely inside the F-35. ;)

I thought of before going into it but decided not to “complicate” things and left my post as vague and general as I said it before and well like you also admit, my line "so not only are we getting it, but the ones we get (and perhaps the ones in general) will have some Israeli electronics and avionics (and perhaps missiles as well) in them :D " is true indeed ;)
Btw I remember that Israel was considered at first but I believe either due to cost or politics (or perhaps both ;) ) Israel wasn’t able to achieve "international partner" statues, though they were able to get in on the program, albeit at a lower level.
On the latter paragraph my memory fails me on the details so if you can expend on that id appreciate it.
Shalom :D

i read somwhere that IAF rejected proposition to buy f22 (from FMS and FMF of course) saying that F15I and F16I are all they need for now but i think that in future israel will buy them.

Wow! That just came out of nowhere rofl
Now, what's going on?
To th eoriginal topic, I believe I read that Israel will not buy the F/A-22 due to the cost and will rather buy the F-35.

With all due respect to our great allies down under, what do ya'll need
F-22's for? On the same page, why do you need the abrams tanks that you recently bought...indonesia? Hell, buy all the American military stuff you can...we always need the money!
Well, the F-22 would provide Israel with a phenominal platform.....I mean, the F-22 has supercruise, extreme unrefueled range, extreme stealth, extreme manueverability, the most advanced avionics/communications/radar, etc etc etc........Just imagine what Israel could do with that ability.......It would greatly improve Israels ability to dominate that air.........If you keep in mind history, it is not beyond possibility that Israel in the next 50 years finds itself forced to fight yet another major air and ground battle...........
Also, I disagree with the notion that we should not sell these F-22 to our strongest allies......Making our strongest allies as strong as possible only makes us as strong as possible. Also, the more F-22 Raptors that LM sells, the lower each airframes price will be and the more we in America can buy of your own fighter!!!!!
Israel, if its military decides it wished the F-22, should get it....Believe me, if they do wish for it than it will be.........They may only buy a few for long range quick stealth strikes (remmember Osirak anyone???)

I heard that Israel was going to get JSFs in the future but I not the F-22. I'm pretty sure the F-22 isn't being sold because it has a lot of new technology on it and it very expensiv, so expensive the US is planning on buying less than 400.

If the F22 was supplied to Israel, I think it would be difficult for the US not to supply it to certain other states in the area. ( Look what happened to the F15, F16 etc ) . The Israelis will probably continue in increasing the nice little gizmos on the F16, F15 etc that will keep their technological edge out in front. Personally, I'd love to see them get Typhoon as well as F35, but I doubt we'd have the hutzpah to sell it to them. Its a pity we dont let them have a damn good look at it, as their input would be very worthwhile.
