Navy SEALs in BHD

I know that the SEALs did recon and odd jobs before the Oct 93 raid, but I dont understand why a small detatchment of them were in the raid itself. Reading BHD, I learned that only a few SEALs (from ST6) were in the convoy; however, I dont understand y they were there instead of more Rangers. Can someone answer my question??

All Special forces troops like CAG and SEALs will do cross training work within each other's groups. Because they all are basicly the same when it comes to training and abilities and sunglasses brand (sorry, had to p-) ).

Since SEALs and CAG are so similar, some SEALs were sent in as well to play the same role as the CAG guys. And maybe some of the SEALs had some special tallents that their army ounterpart's didn't but they felt could be valuable to the mission.

Seeing intermixing of SF groups is very common amongst the SF community.

In any purple unit (eg SOCOM), politics play a huge part in a unit's makeup. The brass argue who goes in, what goes in, etc, etc, etc. To circumvent politics SOCOM tries to use the common military principle of "Proportion". Whereby, a TF will be comprised of all "needed" SOCOM units in proportion to the units population within SOCOM.
Roughly:
total # of SEALS/ total # of SOF will be equal # of SEALS in TF/ # of SOF in TF
So in TF Ranger, although it wasn't an amphib operation, SEALS were included in proportion to its numbers within SOCOM.
In JSOC and mostly SOCOM, the Army runs the show; they are kings. The Army owns JSOC, and there has yet to be a JSOC CA Navy SEAL--the proportion principle.

The main reason for a SEAL Det. in Somolia was because up until recently getting trigger time was a matter of being at the right place at the right time and playing other service "liasion" was how everyone got a game-time. This is also the reason why there were Det. D fellas w/ HRT fellas during the Waco seige. This is why there are SOCOM assets assisting large volume SWAT shooters (CONUS/OCONUS). There was a time when everyone used to pray for their Grenada or Panama and pray it was their unit that was on RDF-1 so they would be around to hear a Air Farce load-master say "Its your door ARMY" , in-bound to a hot DZ.
