Hi, the British Forces now issue the Minimi and i think the scale will be two per section. The ammo comes in 100 and 200 boxes but how will the spare ammo be carried by the gunner ??? will a new webbing system be introduced or will he and the rest of the section carry it in their patrol packs ???, any ideas fellas. In BHD the US Ranger SAW gunner used an interesting "round" canvas ammo pouch on his SAW is this US issue???.

The utility pouch on PLCE webbing can also be used as/replace an ammo pouch to hold grenades and link (or command kit).

Many unit PRI's already purchase extra kit for deployments - some have already bought commercial 100 rd 'ammo bags' to replace the boxed ammo (in the same way we used old '58 water bottle pouches for GPMG link in the Province).

In the same way that Camelbaks have been purchased for Op TELIC, ammo bags (or whatever you call them) may be aquired by MoD, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

We get these pretty ghetto looking bandoleer type deals for our SAW ammo. Its a cotton bag that you basically wear accross your body. They each hold one 200 round drum. I would always try to get them to carry my 7.62.

i think he meant it as a reply to this part:
"will a new webbing system be introduced or will he and the rest of the section carry it in their patrol packs ???,"
and most of the soft 100 rd mags ive seen in the british army overseas have been in AUSCAM.
