I shall call it Frank

A fitting name, henceforth the pack shall be known as Frank.

It is indeed Frank.

I didn't ask what to call it, I asked to name it. ;)
More specifically, the brand or manufacturer.

Frank was developped and produced through intelligent design.

Honestly, it looks like any other 3DAYS pack that can be found out there from Eagle Industries, Blackhawk, TacTailor, etc. What's the big deal?

It must be a Camelback pack

Camelback Motherlode, aka Frank Mk III Mod 0
Catch22
06-19-2010, 03:45 PM
Although I agree that Frank sounds just right for this pack, I'd suggest we give the newbie a break.
It's a older model of Camelbak Motherlode Pack in Foliage Green. Currently you have a two versions of Motherlode - old Layout made of Cordura 1000D and new one made of lighter Cordura 500D. I've been using these packs for several years (among few others) and they're one of the best you can get COTS.

Actually what we might be looking at here is the prototype for the new BDP "Miners Edition" assault pack.
Remember where you heard it first.

To be honest - Frank's younger brother, Edgar is the bees knees. Really.

Does Frank have a sister?
Catch22

Yep, her initials are BFM (whatever acronym it is for), but she's a fatass, of larger than good ol' Frankie - I'd say I used to date her, but she was too much to bear, at least for a daily use...

Edgar? way too upturned nose for a patrol pack...I vote for Ralph: good name for a hard working, blue collar pack. Plus I just like Ralph, Hawkeye named a goat Ralph on MASH once.

Lets settle for Ralph E. Trizip then.

Is Ralph a bit of a perv? A flasher perhaps? I've never seen such a quick-action design for flies.
It is a chinese version of Frank named Hu.

Frank looks like a very likable pack. In fact, he seems to be quite inexpensive, very understanding, a cheap date, has not so cute sister, and a Chinese copy. I think he's the kind of pack i could be friends with!
Does anyone know of a friendly place where Frank can be purchased? Or if he has a cute cousin?

how to explain Frank to my ministry of finance and accuistion?
Simple. Just ask her if itīs allright for you to invite your new acquaintance Frank over for dinner. Make sure she doesnīt get to inquire more about Frankīs true nature. Ask when youīre just about to leave for work.
If you try this stunt - no liablility assumed. And no, you and Frank canīt stay at my place, if she kicks you out.

He usually manages to hold about 6 beers, and still behave acceptably.
(In my own experience - standard Omega (named in honor of Omega7) type reservoir holds nominally 3L, but in reality its more like 2,75L since you wont suceed to fill it over the opening)

Bees have knees? I had no idea. If they make a pack half that size, can we call it Eric? (Python devotees will understand.)

I've got a question. I have a couple of packs made out of 1000D cordura and really like the fabric. I am considering a 500D pack but havent ever looked at the lighter cordura up close. Is the lighter cordura tough and durable enough in your opinion? Thanks!

Im my opinion - it is enough for most of uses, only place where I see the real need for 1000D Cordura now is either magazine pouches that suffer most "wear&tear", duffel/equipment bags that generally are dragged and treated rough, mabe some fev additional uses - for packs, vest covers and utility pouches 500D is enough, given solid PU coating naturally and preferably some good DWR finish. Im currently using several 500D items and they dont seem to show any worse wear&tear than 1000D items I've used before. So for me 500D is a way to go, dunno for what you intend to use them, but I'd say consider it worth trying, especially if it'd cut down on weight.
