Are any of the dark earth ACOGs being used by any US Military unit in Iraq and/or Afghanistan at present? thanks.

No, but they do have some quite fetching pink ones in service overseas. Oh wait, I've said too much......

Its classified. If I told ya, I'd have to dress you up like a goat, and give you over to the Taliban with a note that reads "Compliments of your buddy Barack O. Don't forget to lube up!"
AKA, WTF does it matter? Some guys have spray painted their ACOGs tan, but for the most part, they aren't.

A couple people bought personal optics when i was in a-stan, like me. Because well, the CCO sucks. Someone in my company bought a tan one. So there, thats at least one person who was in country who bought one.

The tan ACOGs are no different than the black ACOGs really. I sold mine because I hated the Docter sight hitting me in the head when I fired.

You couldn't just take it off and sell the doc?

I took mine off. Served no purpose really in a-stan for me, all my engagements were at 250 meters+. Also, i really didn't want to take the extra time to zero the doc. Yeah like danger dan said. I had the model in black but was identical to the tan one. Really no difference at all. But, the one i had had a different reticle and range markings compared to the issued ACOG RCO.

The tan one has back up irons on the side in addition to the Docter sight. But they're rather silly. And the tan one has bullet drop compensation out to 1000m. Again, that is silly too. No way that you're going to have any lethality whatsoever out that far with a 5.56.
And I'll be another person to say that I took the Docter sight off my TA31 Acog. It kept hitting my eyepro which hit my forehead, even with proper eye relief.

I took off the rear rain sight aperture on my ECOS..it kept hitting me in the head when I fired since the ACOG has a 1.5" eye relief and I'm a righty. Once I took that off, the corner of the Docter sight would hit me in the head and draw blood. I could have taken off the Docter, but it's just an awesome sight for close up shooting. I ended up selling the whole thing and got a 553 Eotech in the same color.
Plus I needed money for my wedding...which somehow I ended up spending that on my .308 AR I am building.
BTW: The ECOS ACOGs go out to 1000m for the SAW. Not intended purpose for the AR15/M16 platform.

Maybe he wasn't good at using the ACOG irons... which suck or didn't like using BAC.

Good job on resurrecting a pointless old thread.
