Anyone have any idea of what this guy in pointing to, or the story behind it?
Of course with in reason .... but anything?

Great pics. Some nice camo jobs on some of those rifles.

EDIT: And it looks like the guy is pointing to a land mine on the side of the rode. If you look closely you can see the outer edge of the mine in the deepest part of the depression. It looks like somone built a ring of larger rocks around it to keep peopel from accidentelly contacting it.

Nice pics.

Do SF wear bullet proof vests? Those are assault vests only, right?

well in OIF the british forces used big orange panels on all their vehicles, i suppose it makes them easier to spot from the enemy but its not exactly hard to spot a humvee...

Looks like these guys are mostly wearing SO Tech Plate carriers with the 3 mag shingle. IN that pic with the guy on the SAW, it looks like a Callahan, i can't tell which version. I see one dude with a BHI STRIKE plate carrier under his OD Hellcat. These guys look like they had a shopping spree at SOtech. They make some very good stuff.

I see some of these guys have no BUIS with their Eotech's. Do they trust them that much for no BUIS?

Also, do they have the new 554 eotech?

Some very nice pictures.

The Germans drew big crosses on turrets of captured T-34's. Not a good precedent to use.

And again, black cross form a fast moving aircraft is far harder to perceive that a splash of orange.

It's a relief to see all the indig's holding their trigger fingers outside the triggerguards. SoF had a number of good articles about the SOF in A-stan, many good pix. Apparently it's considered unmanly by a few of them to wear armor or helmets. Especially since their indigs don't and consider anyone in a helmet a foreign occupier.

for some reason that picture seems *veeeerrry* familiar to me. maybe it's just the plywood walls and the sign posted on it.

as my unit was pulling out of Iraq we had to spend about a week at our Bn headquarters while we made sure our replacements got the general idea of the area and didn't screw things up too badly (they didn't get it - 7 casualties in the first 5 days... *sigh*)... anyways, while we were waiting to leave, I recall watching what i believed to be a couple of SF guys building an addition to the main building (you could easily tell their section though - it was right below the 5 or so mini-satcom dishes that i love so much :D). of course this addition was out of plywood, and it had pretty much the same sign posted on it.

doesn't mean too much - i am willing to bet that the picture is not of the same area... but... its nice to think about :D

When Baghdad was invaded by US forces, a Bradley fired on a SF pick-up thinking it was either a enemy technical, or a suicide vehicle.. They were informed about what SF vehicles would look like (including the panels), but when you are being attacked by hundreds of suicide vehicles, one tends to get jumpy. Oh yea, the SF dudes made out fine, just a little pissed when their ride was demolished.

I contacted SO-Tech, they didn't have the pics in hi-res.
Some of you must have saved them or something?
Please contact me if you got the pics in hi-res!
