IMHO, the bat symbol is used by Russian/Soviet recon troops.
Here is the link to more Russian/CIS military patches (dunno if all of them are authentic):

The bat is the symbol for Spetsnaz of GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate), that's the original spetsnaz created for deep recon and disabling NATO installations in Europe just before WWIII begins. They are also known in Russia as "Voennaya Razvedka" (Военная Разведка) - Military Intelligence.

Questions:
What model?
Safety isn't on the right side?
Sites mounted all the way back? I guess the receiver cover doesn't come off like it used too? More stable optic mount spots on top?
Did they add a bolt hold/release also?

OK, from what I get the safety is at the front of the trigger guard like a Garand (good).
The whole top cover thing comes off with a release at the front.
Optics still mount off the left side.
Correct?

9mm AKSU (VITYAZ)

9x21
Is Vityaz just a prototype or are there plans to sell it to Russian military and police units?
The weapon seems to be an interesting option for the "not so special" Russian police forces which canīt afford the money for new guns like 9A-91 or SR-3. AKS-74U is still widely used in Russian police forces so a lot of parts from the old AKS-74U are interchangeable and operators can use a weapon they already know. And the 9x21mm catridge is probably a much better choice for police work than the 5x45mm if fired from a shortbarrelled weapon.
Could someone please give information on the other two AKS-74U versions (first one seems to be an improved version of AN11 (http://securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/2000/2094.htm))?

"СПЕЦНАЗ" = "SPECNAZ" = "SPECOPS"

СПЕЦНАЗ = специального назначения = spetsialnogo naznacheniya = SPETSNAZ
The term literally means special purpose units, or in other word, special forces.

Hmmmm, still no info on the camo these guys are sporting? Must ... have ... camo...
That airsoft tart next to the airsoft replica of the Reverend Dr. Kalashinkov (blessed be his name), isn't that his granddaughter?
Kalashinkov is looking mighty fine these days, more healthy than he's appeared in the recent past.
And to answer someone's questionn if it hasn't been answered already, yes, he crewed a T-34 and was injured in combat. He designed the basic workings of the AK while in the hospital. He was already known for a clockwork that he had designed for tanks. An old world craftsman for sure.
