Oh that was strange, the same day I posted my newest creation in another thread p-)
It's a little plate carrier that I sewed together. Only the front as a "plate" in it, since I haven't been issued any protection yet.
The front has 7 pals because I need that to carry what I want, and 6 in the back to be able to center hydration and\or other pouches.
The white lines are just chalk, it will wear off.
The dog hairs are because my bullterrier loves to help me cut fabric

Nice work Lasse. How long did it take you to sew that rig together?

Truly love it:)
Been thinking about doing something Similar for a hobby but dont think my sewing machine can handle that type of material, what type of sewing machine do you use?? or do you use some company for it??

Goldfish, it took around 8 hours with making the pattern as well as preparing and sewing everything. With the right preparations, I could probably get it down to about 4 hours per carrier.
Jaemten, old is gold, anything made before 1970s, all metal etc. Someone in your family has a sewing machine they don't use, or find something at a garage sale etc.. I'd recommend that for a start, and if you really like it you could buy something heavier.
I use a "Tuffsew", basically a clone of a Sailrite machine (I think), since it was cheap and powerful enough. I won't expect it to last forever, but one can hope...
The best place to learn is DIY Tactical (http://www.diytactical.com), it's basically the only forum dedicated to tactical gear sewing, their forum is full of info.
Now, where are some frankenstein rigs that people have stapled together?

I used my old issue desert rack and dyed it coyote and use Magpul style pouches across the fron. I like it because I still get 210 rounds and I can lay flat or ****e easily. http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?31887-Lets-see-the-firearm-collection...../page1200

Post those 417 magpouches you made LasseBut it's only 1 and it's the old design :P But I do have a little production que right now, mostly chestrigs and 416 pouches. And more 417 pouches when I have time for Sc-He ;)
But I'll post everything I'm happy with, and hopefully everyone will post their little mods and such that they've done. Heard some rumors about one member having a "frankenstein PLCE" that I'd love to see.

Turning in one of these GI Open Top Triple Magazine Pouches into a Admin pouch w/multi tool slot, just cut out the separators, and sew one a little smaller so the multi tool doesn't fall out
This could be an awesome thread, would like to see more done here!

My work routine/wandering around Honiara sling. Quick to put on and off, and can be worn as a backpack when you don't want the weapon moving falling to the front. The elastic means I can have the length quite short so it's not hanging around low, but still be able to shoulder it quickly. This is a prototype, so I only have plastic hardware on the rear sling swivel.

Did some tacti-ghetto modification to my VTAC sling, its now a hybrid sling, that can change between two point, to one point. Made for the driver.

And yeah, i did use a needle and a thread, and i reinforced it with ducktape.
Havent been able to hardcore test it yet. But it looks promising.
