Just read this, the IRIS-T missile is the first and only SRAAM today capable of intercepting incoming missiles.

Thats a nice feature adding a new level of air to air combat.

Diehl-BGT also recently introduced a new 120 mm GPS/Laser guided mortar round for the german army.

CEP of <1 m with laser illumination at 12 km range.

A 155 mm artillery version is being developed from that design right now.

Neat, but "intercept missiles" could mean a lot.
I guess any modern missile with an imaging warhead can intercept older soviet SAMs like SA-2s or SA-6s.
Just another slow maneuvering target, though a very fast one.
S-300 family should become more difficult and I'm not sure it could hit another air to air missile.
Basically, a missile with an imaging warhead can be launched against anything with enough contrast to stand out.
Air to ground capability should be no problem for IRIS-T as well (AIM-9X can do that), especially against ships or boats.

I think air to air missiles of sidewinder and AMRAAM class are meant. SAM also included.

It's nothing new really - soviets were considering fitting Tu-160 with R-77 for self defense purpose.
With proper fuze, this seems achieveable however, both missiles will be most likely approach each other with speeds in range of Mach 8+.
The issue, is to detect and lock on incoming missle - and to have time to do it will require at least few good seconds which means range 10+ km... will be covered

R-77 is no SRAAM....
